David Russell

Stalker the Musical is a brand new piece of Australian musical theatre – which has been many years in the making. It is the brainchild of 3 Australian writers: Andy Peterson, Alex Giles and David Russell – who have been working tirelessly over the last several years to make this show a reality.

We have been accepted into the New York International Fringe Festival, the largest arts festival in the world. A group of extremely talented Australian actors, directors and creatives are planning on making the trek over to Manhattan in August. Stalker is the only show to be accepted to the festival from Australia, so we are both extremely proud and extremely nervous.
We are there to represent our great nation and its burgeoning theatre industry, but it's a costly process, collectively costing many tens of thousands of dollars. But before we hit the Big Apple, we will be staging a one night only workshop performance at the Hayes Theatre, Sydney on the 6th July. Pozible contains the only public tickets for this show.

A bit about the show:
Stalker: The Musical is a dark, satirical musical, set in a dystopian world where love is taboo, and men and women are free to leer and lust to their heart’s content. Jay Cloudstreet finds himself drawn to one particular girl, Ava Derwent. We follow this awkward couple through a story of self-discovery as they explore what love is and the pleasure and heart-break it brings. The story is complicated further by a mysterious stranger who throws this world, and its rules, into chaos.

Essentially, the heavy lifting has been done creatively. We are extremely proud of our script and music. 
Right now, our biggest challenges are financial. Staging a musical is an enormous endeavour, even if it's on your home soil. But taking a cast, crew and creative team to an entirely new city, housing them for a month, rehearsing a show in a new theatre with a new technical team and some new cast members is massive.
