New soil for Community Garden
There are now 60 members who volunteer at the garden contributing their time, effort and money to ensure the continuity of the beautiful, safe and rewarding social space. This garden is quite unique to Melbourne in that most gardens are closed to the public. Here the herbs, flowers and vegetables can be shared with any member of the public.
The local volunteers have been maintaining the garden now for 7 years but the soil has never been replaced. A large quantity of fertilisers are required each time a new crop is sewn to increase the nutrient levels. This is why the garden requires new soil.
How The Funds Will Be Used
This money will be used for removal of existing soil and installation of new soil including transport and bobcat use. We have quotes from multiple bulk soil suppliers.
The Challenges
Our fundraising efforts have not raised enough to meet the quoted budget for such a large operation. This soil is well overdue for replacement.
