My name is Douglas Cooney and I live in a beautiful part of the world known as Margaret River. A few years ago I self published my first fiction novel: 'Makara - A Taste of Freedom'..... A healthy and inspiring tale, of a young Aussie surfer taking a transformational road-trip across the country.

In a light and fun way, the adventure weaves in some powerful topics such as:

- Slowing life down

- Organic food and chemical free cleaning/ living

- Emotional responsibilty

- Healthy celebration

- Gratitude

- Self love

- Trusting life

- Sacred sexuality

- Following your joy........ and much much more.....

So far, 600 books have sold... through market stalls, shops, online etc. and the feedback has been phenomenal. The highlight, being one morning at a wintery Busselton market, I had a super enthusiastic reader (who'd purchased the book a week earlier) stand in front of my stall, loudly proclaiming: "EVERY MAN NEEDS TO READ THIS BOOK!"..... I should have hired him, cause within the next 5 minutes, 3 signed copies were sold.

The popularity of the book inspired me to create and run 'self development' Weekend Retreats, based around some of the theme's in the book. The Retreat's took off and have been happening monthly for the last 2 years..... This consumed most of my time... The books eventually ran out and Makara went onto the back burner.

In the last few months I've had repeated requests of people wanting books. I'm officially 'over' saying: "Well, actually, I don't have any?"..... and therefore the time has come for another print run.

I could rave on about Makara, though I am probably best to let others do it!

I initially did a crowdfunding campaign to birth the book a few years ago. Man, did I go through some challenges then! I had no idea what was involved to finish a project like this. So, thankfully the challenges in this campaign are minor.
