Bricktease? What is that?

I am Bricktease! The maker of “Lego Casino Royale”, along with remakes of a few music videos and some original stories. All my videos are made using stop animation with Lego!

Bricktease.com is also growing as a community for fans of Lego to share creations and talk about all things to do with Lego.

I have been making videos for about 4 years, continuously working on improving the quality and scope of the videos. Stop animation gives me a huge amount of flexibility in what I get to make, although it takes quite a while to get looking as good and fluid as possible. I try really hard to make my scenes as immersive as possible, doing my best to only use Lego, even in backgrounds and big scenes.

I love making videos, especially if I can make people react and go “wow”, “aww”, “oohhhh” and other such sounds. I want to keep on making videos, and making them really, really well.

What next then?

After the success of the Lego Casino Royale video, I've been inundated by you wonderful people, asking that I remake the whole movie. It would be so awesome to do that, but to complete that would take so long that everyone would lose interest and get bored.

So instead I have a better idea, which is more achievable and can get you some cool stuff sooner. I am going to remake four iconic action scenes from different movies. Scenes full of explosions, punches, crashes, running, flipping, parkour, shooting, kung fu, dying, smashing or explosions. I mentioned explosions twice on purpose.

Like Casino Royale, whatever scene I pick will be something everyone (who likes cool movies) will know and recognise. Then I will make the most awesome Lego remake of that scene. The remakes will have a focus on attention to detail and accuracy, but with a few Lego twists where possible.

And I want to do it four times (that is, four different videos), along with still doing original Lego videos, all by the end of 2013!

And I want everyone (that means you!) to watch these videos, enjoy them and also contribute to making them a reality.

You can help make the Bricktease.com movie project a reality! By contrubuting a few dollars, you can be apart of making these Lego videos. And how often do you get the chance to know you were responsible for making a Lego stop animation video! I need buy some things to help me make the movies better and more accurate.

To help me iron out some of the brightness and lighting issues that keep plaguing me, I need new and better lighting and photography equipment.

To help me remake some of the scenes I have in mind, I need to order more Lego. While I have a pretty decent Lego collection at the moment, I have nowhere near what I need to recreate some scenes, and I want them to be as accurate as possible in future.

I also need to perfect some of the special effects, with better software to do the explosions and other bits and pieces. What effects I can’t do it myself, I’ll need to hire in some professional help. I did mention explosions, didn't I?

But you said you were already going to keep making videos? Why do you need us?

You are right, I will keep making videos. However my budget for new Lego and equipment is quite low. Some particularly cool scenes I am planning need tons of stuff that I simply don’t have. Without your help, those scenes won’t be made. You won’t get to go “Oh that was awesome!” when a Lego man shoots his way through a lobby or has a high speed car chase through the Italian countryside.

You and I both want there to be awesome videos. Please help make that a reality!

So what does achieving $10,000 mean?

It gets you four awesome 3-5 minute stop animation Lego videos, over the next 12 months. Plus a number of other original stories, all out of Lego!

If the Lego moons align and the world is incredibly generous, then at;

$15,000 - 6 awesome, action packed scenes will be remade

$20,000 – 10 scenes will be remade + a music video

$40,000 – 10 scenes will be remade + a music video + a special 30-60 minute length video!

Above that – Wow. I don’t know what we will do, but it will be awesome and made with your suggestions and feedback!

What are the challenges?

The obvious challenge to me is that I will pick a project that cannot be completed because of a technical challenge that I cannot overcome. But part of this project is to help me learn how to overcome these problems, and as a result make cooler videos.
