Hourglass Short Film
Hourglass is a 2017 Deakin University Honours Film.
It is also the sophomore film production hot out of the trailblazing Dogmilk Films. The trio are already generating a moderate amount of "buzz" in some Eastern Bloc countries.
We are counting on YOU ! ... Yes, specifically you ! to help us get her across the line ! Any and every kind donation will help us get that Disney Channel Original Movie ending we so keenly desire. So if you could spare a tuppence, thrippence or an American silver dollar it would go a long way to helping us acheive the aforementioned happy ending.
Made in association with Impel Pictures.
Hourglass is a film about a doctor who is grappling with the guilt of having witnessed her mother's suicide when she was a child. Her past has a way of forcing its way into her present. It has become increasingly difficult for her to retain a sense of normalcy. One night she meets a cryptic stranger who makes her question the very notion of her being, her past and perpetual present.
Critics are calling it the most polarizing film of the summer, behind mother! and Transformers 9 : China loves Robots.
The Chicago Sun-Times are calling it
"Better than Season 4 of Lost"
Rolling Stone Magazine are saying
"No one is really sure what is happening"
Empire
"Lock him up immediately"
Roger Ebert's son, Toby Ebert has been quoted as saying
"My father would be turning over in his grave"
The Port Phillip Leader
"A proverbial smorgasboard of emotions chronicling the human condition"
Here is one ancedotal tidbit to satisfy your burgeoning curiousity. The week long shoot took place between the 24-31 October.
On Thursday the 26th of October just outside of Yarrawonga, a ragtag group of city slickers barely learnt how to operate propeller-laden boats. The skeleton crew then drifted into the unknown ... into the barren beauty of Mulwalla lake. The murky waters parrelled our decaying sense of purpose as we attempted to navigate through the dead trees and forgotton memories that peppered the aquatic abyss while most importantly trying to avoid the greater danger that lay just under the surface both literally and figuratively.
During the last few minutes of light on what was meant to be a Sunny 30+ degree afternoon, an ominous growl bellowed through the sky. We had angered the gods. The winds picked up, the light faded and the black clouds poisoned the blue skies. Zeus decided to be like right, I'll sort these lads out, throwing lightning left, right and centre, we said Zeus, sweetie... please and rode straight into the eye of storm. This typifies the resilence and audacity of the rogue filmmakers who forged this film in the fiery chasms of their own minds.
