We are Fruzsi and Caroline, co-owners of Peanut Gallery, open since September 2016. We are a self-funded artist run space with a vision that sees us supporting emerging local artists alongside established interstate and international artists. Our exhibitions are bold, exciting and carefully curated to bring only the highest calibre of art to Adelaide audiences.

Over the last 12 months we've worked crazy hours to keep up with the demand of running a space. It's been with great passion that we've strived to continually present exciting exhibitions and special events to the good people of Adelaide. In addition to the sixty artists who we hand-picked for our exhibitions, we also had the pleasure of collaborating with creatives from various disciplines including poets, a make-up artist, a tattooer and more. We've hosted a poetry night, a unicorn party, two Harry Potter quiznights, numerous workshops and even collaborated on a live tattooing event at one of our openings! Here's a video below by Henry Thong for his 'Makers Who Inspire' series where we talk about what inspires and motivates us to do what we do at Peanut Gallery. (Dec 2016)

We looked long and hard at different funding options but couldn't find anything suitable that we were eligible for. In addition, given our own creative backgrounds, we were adamant to take as little commission from sales as possible and keep participation fees to a minimum to give our artists maximum profits. In fact we sacrificed any potential income for ourselves in favour of repaying the loans we took out to start the business. We are almost there but need just a little more help to raise the last of that money. We are doing this through an art auction happening via our Instagram and Facebook, which will conclude at our closing night on Friday September the 8th.

We're incredibly proud of what we've been able to achieve. We honestly feel very honored and privileged to have shared our space and skills with so many talented folks, created a safe space for all and offered unique and memorable events for everyone to enjoy. Having a gallery has been our dream and it's been an incredible experience. We would like to thank every single person who has come to Peanut Gallery, enjoyed an exhibition opening, had a drink, bought a piece and shared a kind word with us. You are what's made it happen!

How The Funds Will Be Used

We thought it would be a shame to close the gallery and have only our memories to revisit these beautiful exhibitions by. In addition, we wanted to be able to share the gift of PG with interstate and overseas followers too! So we decided to combine our words (Fruzsi), pictures (John Goodridge & Lucy Sevenoaks) and graphic design skills (Caroline) to create a beautiful limited edition retrospective book of the year of Peanut Gallery.

We will locally print a limited run of 100 books, complete with beautiful gold foil lettering on the cover. The book will include multiple sections including 'our story', a behind the scenes look at how the space came to be. A section on each exhibition we've  had including the beautiful invitation design by Caroline, a catalogue essay by Fruzsi, some photos of the opening and a full page colour mini-print of an artwork from that show. In addition, there will be a 'special events' section detailing the wonderful events we've hosted with special notes by Fruzsi, discussing the inspiration behind each idea. A book wouldn't be complete without some 'thank you' pages, and some more pictures for good measure.

A limited edition of 50 totebags will be printed by our friend Jake Holmes from Tooth and Nail.

All of the money raised through this campaign will go towards covering the costs of  printing, production and postage, as well as Pozible fees. Our aim is to print 100 books, but in the event of over-funding we are happy to extend the edition. However, the subsequent order will be the only run made, so this is the only opportunity to sponsor the publication, and to get your hands on a copy of this special book!

Any money raised over the target will go to the costs associated with the dismantle of the gallery. (electrician fees, paint etc). Depending on the overflow, we may come up with bonus goodies to plump up the packages with! Thank you for your support.

The Challenges

Our primary challenge is the race against time, as we will have our final event on Friday September the 8th. We hope to have the books printed and available for sale and collection at our art auction/ closing party. This gives us just TWO and a bit weeks to raise the funds through this campaign!

We need to give the keys back to the space on September 11th, so pulling off the printing of the books, the closing event and the following renovation of the space in just a few days will be our primary task and challenge. We believe we can do it, and we thank you for reading and supporting our campaign!
