Two of the greatest passions in my life are cinema and music, so the idea of this project is to combine those two things by fusing screenings of some of the greatest cult movies with a dark alternative twist and DJs playing music that compliments those silver screen gems.
With thanks to the folks at Oz Horror Con we have found an awesome little boutique cinema with really comfy seats, a fully licensed bar and a candy/snack bar plus a nice big dancefloor area and DJ consoles!
- Date will be Saturday March 1st from 10pm
- Venue location is The Backlot Studios (http://www.thebacklotstudios.com/) South Melbourne (5 mins walk from Crown/trams)
- Bone rattling 7.1 sound system, luxury seating, massive screen, KILLER aircon
- Complimentary parking for 22 cars (til 5am)
- DJs playing in the bar til 3am
- Reasonable drinks prices ($7 bottled beers, $7 wines $9 pre mixers)
- Chill out/quiet areas for chats
- The first 20 pledgers have a vote on the movies that we screen*

How The Funds Will Be Used
Funds will be used to cover the venue hire, security and movie royalties. This comes to approx $1300 +GST but I'm happy to dip into my pocket a little if necessary to get things moving and keep ticket prices reasonable so I'm setting the target at $1k if we raise more than the required funds I'll put any excess into canapes or maybe a free drink on arrival etc. depending on how much.
Capacity is strictly limited to 100 (78 for the cinema) so I can only sell 90 tickets total (70 movie + club and 20 club only).

The Challenges
Balancing the music and the movies and working with such a limited capacity venue are the main challenges for this project.
There are very limited number of seats in the theater but if they are sold out or you're not that bothered to watch the movies and you'd like to come along, listen to some great tunes and have a drink and a dance then this is the reward for you! Only for admittance after midnight.
