I KNEW YOU'D SAY THAT

A couple's personal troubles are filmed with hidden cameras and commentated on like a sport - with all accompanying analysis and betting options - to a nationwide audience. While tensions rise for viewers at home, the action inside the tv studio threatens to compromise the broadcast, but it's what's inside the respective minds of the couple and out of view of the cameras where the biggest story lies.

The idea for I KNEW YOU'D SAY THAT grew from observing just how prevalent sports, gambling, and reality television have become in Australian society. I saw this as an extension of the use and availability of technology and the media to spawn new avenues of entertain without regard to how it may desensitise us to personal relationships. With that in mind, I thought it would be interesting to create an (only slightly) alternate reality where television had pushed the bounds of acceptability in the name of entertainment, while at the same time present the thoughts and memories of the couple to remind people of the real relationships in their lives which have greater meaning.

Myself and the crew need your help to make this film a reality. It is a University of Canberra 3rd year graduating film, and if successful, my intention is to package the film as a pilot episode for a proposed tv series. The concept is unique and the subject matter (particularly that of individuals, couples and families being familiar with primetime tv watching and judging) is highly relatable, and with different hidden-camera 'victims' each week, the interest can be sustained.

We intend to use the funds to pay for:
Studio hire
Equipment hire
Set construction
Props
Sound designer
Talent
Make-up artist
Location fees
Transport
Catering
Marketing 

We plan to tackle the potential problems of our project by allowing more time and money to make up that which is lost in the case of those obstacles.
Some of them include the number of shots in the production, there are a lot scenes in this film and any problems or delays that occur in changing lighting set-ups, equipment failings, blocking or performing of actors' takes etc. may cause us to need locations or personnel longer than first thought. Those allowing us use of our secured locations have been informed and are agreeable to any such contingencies. 
We may also need to do re-shoots and pickups to fix problems in continuity, sound, or clarify story elements.
There are a couple of outdoor scenes, and filming in winter could present weather-related problems.  
There is also a scene in a bar yet to be agreed upon, and we are prepared to pay a fee for the appropriate time and sound conditions.
