HYG - Get The Album on Vinyl!
What are you doing?!
We're launching our debut album and we need your help to get it on vinyl!
After a year on the backburner we're releasing our debut album, 'Hopeless Youth Group' on August 7. It's our biggest body of work to date, we've put a lot of love and effort into getting it ready and we couldn't be happier with how it's turned out. The best-case scenario would be to be able to share it with you on our favourite format, 12" vinyl record.
However, as much as we love listening back to it, we don't have the funds up-front to print the album to vinyl. At the end of the day, we're just 4 guys playing music for the love of it, without a label or external backing (beyond the amazing network that have helped us get this far with the album - more on that below).
So, that's where you come in. If you want to grab a copy of the record, you'll have to help us make sure we've got the funds to print them.
How are you going to do it?!
We're going to go with Zenith Records to print the album, at a total cost of $2905. To get started, we'll need to put down a 50% deposit, $1452.5. But, realistically, we won't be able to get moving with the project unless we know we can sell at least $2000 worth of records, so that's our target going into this.
We're planning on printing 150 records, with a smaller amount going to record shops around the country, and the rest to be split between what we can shift here and what we can sell at shows.
We're already within the 12-week turnaround window from the album going live, but if we manage to get the process started by no later than June 6, we'll have enough time to get the records to you all by August.
To help us get across the line, we've got a few options - you can put your name down for a copy of the record up-front (the best way to ensure you get a copy); you can add a T-Shirt order (which we'll also get printed once we get across the line); or you can just find it in the kindness of your heart to chip in some spare cash (from which you'll have our eternal love and support).
What happens if you don't raise the funds by June 6?
Nothing changes - you don't get charged for your donation, we put the album out as a digital-only release and we go on tour in August to support the release, and hopefully see you all on the road.
How else can I help?!
Give us your money!!
Or, you can spread the word to your friends and family who like our music and who would want to help us put it out to the world. Every bit of support counts, whether you can chip in to fund us or not.
If you've got any other ways to help - reach out to us! We're humans, we won't bite, we're at [email protected]
Who's helped us get this far?
This album wouldn't have been possible without grant funding from the ACT Government.
The album was recorded up in the Blue Mountains, at the home of Boris Hunt and Anna Culliton.
It was mixed with additional tracking by Louis Montgomery, and mastered by Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering.
All the album and single artwork was hand-painted by Claire Fletcher.
Finally, the band members - Oskar, Sean and Lucius - are the reason we're able to make the music we make and deserve a special thanks.
A massive thank you to everyone who's helped us along the way, both with the album and with the band.
Cheers all,
Mark - HYG
