As someone works far away from my hometown, I choose to look after my child by myself instead of leaving my baby behind.  When my baby has a fever, the nights can be very difficult.  Normally, my strategy is to set the alarm for every other hour over an 8-hour period so I can get up and check on my child. 


As a programmer, I must acknowledge that the query-based method is neither efficient nor scientific. A better solution may be a continuous temperature monitor. This would send an alert whenever it detects a fever and reduce my physical and mental stress and ensure that my baby gets a good sleep.

Another example also happens at night. A couple is trying to conceive; the woman wakes up early to an alarm clock. She feels sleepy, but has to record her basal body temperature with a thermometer. The curve of the daily basal temperatures can provide clues about the possibility of pregnancy. I believe that every woman who finds herself getting up at all hours of the night would appreciate a tool that automatically measures, records and predicts the chance of pregnancy.



These are just two inspirations for our product. We hope this product will help reduce problems and stress for people who are having the same troubles.

We have encountered several challenges and difficulties as we have pursued
perfection for our product. Of course, we will always overcome these difficulties and
challenges. It can be hard, but we love a challenge.

Challenge 1: Product Design
Numerous brainstorms, hundreds of product designs and countless modifications
reflect our perseverance in creating a perfect product.
We pursue classical aesthetics for our products and a perfect match between user and tool.

Challenge 2: Structure and Process
Since the device is closely attached to the body, its weight and size have great impact on the overall user-experience. Therefore, we tried minimize size.
In addition, the device should comply with product safety standards for children and they should never be able to swallow it. Therefore, we chose a subtle size.
The thickness of the product should be given priority to ensure the comfort ofapplication. The thickness was modified from 6mm to 4.8mm, and then again from 4.8 mm to 4.4 mm. Eventually, we were able to reduce the thickness down to 4.2 mm.
“Small size, big power!” In order to achieve that goal, we carefully considered different parameters such as the accuracy and size of the kernel components and parts.
After a great number of circuit optimizations and practical tests on each component and part. 
A 4.2 mm (extremely thin) and 0.05 ℃ (extremely accurate) device was what we were able to achieve.




Challenge 3 :Application Method
The product is a 24-hour continuous monitor. The way in which it is worn is very important. The improvements made to our product originated from actual experience.
In order to improve ease-of-application, our team has conducted a lot of research,experience testing and analysis. We tried the watchband tied to the upper arm/shoulder, doubled sided adhesive tape, and a single-sided, non-woven material which was attached to the underarm area. However, we were not satisfied with these application methods. This was largely due to the inconvenience of cleaning after removal rather than actual poor adhesion.
After days and nights spent modifying the details, we finally customized a medical laminate which attached to the underarm area. It is extremely thin, soft, breathable, non-toxic, and mild. It contains anti-bacterial properties and is non-residual.
