This year JOY is focusing on the crisis of addiction in LGBTI+ communities.

Each week our show Hooked takes a ground-breaking approach to this complex crisis. Our co-hosts David Gale and Russ Masterton invite guests to explore personal experience and expert opinion on the range of addiction experiences across our communities.

Since December 2018 we have produced episodes covering alcohol addiction, self-harm, 12-step programs, marijuana and gambling, to name a few. Each show includes addicts in recovery, specialists working in the area or leaders of the communities concerned about LGBTI+ addiction.

We need to have this conversation. It's vital that we talk about this difficult subject.

To keep Hooked on the air for the next 12 months in its present form, JOY needs to raise a a minimum of $12,000.

We want to invest in this program to develop the show and make sure that Hooked becomes the go-to resource for all LBGTI+ people and health professionals wrestling with the complex issue of addiction in our communities.

Raising these funds will  allow us to:

          1) increase the quality and depth of our radio show and podcast;
          2) market the show across Australia to LGBTI+ people and health professionals; and
          3) fundraise for the ongoing development of the this project.

Hooked is taking JOY 94.9 into a new direction - more directly in service of our community.

It is JOY’s listeners and members who keep us on air, and who support us in giving a voice to LGBTI+ communities across Australia.

JOY 94.9 depends on listeners and members to keep us on air.

Each hour-length show costs JOY about $6,000 per year to broadcast - and that's not including marketing, production, development or training. 

That's just to keep the lights on and the signal going to air.

To keep Hooked on air for the next 12 months we need to raise $6,000 to on-air costs, and $6,000 to invest in developing the show - $12,000 in total.
