The Mercy of the Tide Album

In July 2010, I picked up a uke for the first time (my mid-life crisis - cheaper than a sports car but ultimately more consuming!) and by November of that year I had started writing songs, a lot of songs! Then January 2011 came and with it came the Brisbane flood - a lot of what the waters took then I can never replace, but in their place has come words, music, songs that speak of love and loss, laughter and longing. This is the true mercy of the tide that led to this album.
The Mercy of the Tide will have 14 of my original songs and is my first recording with my new band (Sebastien Jego on drums and George Borthwick on bass). There are also a swag of amazing guest musicians involved in the recording...Julian Swinnerton (cello), Matt Alford (guitar), Chris Weber (trumpet), Xani Kolac (violin), Ingrid Homburg (violin), Andrew McLean (harmonica), Nick Evangelou (slide guitar) and the list goes on.
If you haven't heard my music before - well, it sits somewhere between folk, blues and jazz carrying a little flavour of each. Here's a little sample of some of the songs from the album (the dancer is my beautiful sister Fiona) -
You can check out some of my earlier work on my website - www.janecameronmusic.com.
We are recording at Hummingbird Studio in April with producer Tristen Bird. Tristen has worked with Liz Stringer, Van Walker and many others and I am thrilled to be have him on board for this album. I am aiming to have the CD pressed in May ready for a full on, no holds barred album launch in mid-June. There's a lot that goes into making an album...and a lot of costs - tracking, mixing, mastering, artwork, CD pressing not to mention paying the musicians (and I really want to pay the musicians!). The good news is that I have already either paid or saved up enough money to cover about 60-65% of the cost.
This is where you come in to the picture.
I'm looking for your help to raise the last 35-40% of the cash needed to finish and press the album. If you can help out, that would be amazing! I've put together a heap of rewards including some slightly unusual ones that will give you something special in recognition of your help in making this album happen.
If you're not in a position to pledge for a reward, you can still help out by sharing this project through your networks - I will be thrilled if you do!
Thanks for looking at my project and I hope you will be hearing my music very soon!
love
Jane
p.s. if by some miracle this campaign smashes through its target and becomes some awesome viral Pozible success story, I'll be using the extra funds to get a video clip made for the first single from the album...fingers crossed! :)
How The Funds Will Be Used
Majority of the musicians' fees
Pre-production costs
Tracking
Mixing
That's roughly between $6000-$7000 of the total cost already covered.
But I still need your help to raise money to cover:
Mastering $1000
CD design and art work $ 500
CD pressing $1798
Session musician fees $ 450
Pozible and bank fees $ 250
All up I am hoping to raise $4000.
