The Sports Masters was conceived by Ray Blumenfeld, a sports enthusiast who has been publishing magazines for over 35 years! Ray suggested the idea to some close friends, including two of his publishing colleagues Bill Rowan (USA) and John Hancock (AUS). They loved it.

Soon Ray was soon meeting with venture capitalists and senior industry stakeholders, including senior vice-presidents and managers at Canada’s largest media chain, Postmedia. All agreed that the idea had a lot of merit and ironically no one anywhere was producing a magazine that covered this fast-growing sporting space.

When the Australian Masters Games 2015 said they ‘want to be all over it’, Australia became the launch pad for this world-first
magazine aimed at athletes 30+

How The Funds Will Be Used

Funds will be used to go to press and distribute the first print copy. Raising advertising is very tough with a new magazine, especially when the advertisers are blue-chip brands behind many gatekeepers. Once printed, all our prospective advertisers will get a copy, as well as 100's of sporting clubs around Australia. 

The Challenges

The biggest challenge is time, because we were not really planning to launch so quickly in Australia, until the Australian Masters Games declared its strong enthusiasm to support the magazine. There is no sports magazine in the world for 30+ athletes, so it's all pretty exciting.
