Hunting the Unknown is a short film that centres on a photographer, William, who absorbed by the camera, is always searching for the perfect moment to capture. A mythical figure materialises in Williams photographs, progressing to incarnate in his day to day activities. Agitated by this reoccurring figure, William is lead with no option but to confront this mythic, and in turn, his obsession with images.

Living somewhat vicariously through the camera, Hunting the Unknown raises questions around the abstraction and alienation that can come through such endeavours, highlighting the murky distinction of 'life imitating art or art imitating life'.

How The Funds Will Be Used

We have a highly motivated crew and cast backing the film and are confident we can bring a quality vision to life, though we do require support for this vision to become fully realised.

As a film made independent of any funding bodies/institutions or schools, we are not granted the luxuries of equipment and financial support. Making a film under this framework is usually challenging enough, but without any safety net to fall under we are asking for your assistance to help us make this film.

Your donations will go towards the following:
-Camera/Lighting loans
-Catering
-Set/Costume Design
-Music score
-Props
-Data storage
-Fuel/Parking expenses
-Misc. Expenditures

Alternative ways to help:
If you don't have any cash to spare, you can still help out in other ways. As the film centres on a photographer, there are a lot of props we need to acquire to fully authenticate our characters environment. If you have any old 35mm negatives you could donate or darkroom equipment we would be very grateful and put it to good use. For any inquires please contact: [email protected]

The Challenges

Though there will be challenges all filmmakers encounter such as pre-production difficulties regarding scheduling and location acquisition, to on set revisions of camera and performance, there are a number of particular obstacles that we must face and overcome for Hunting the Unknown.

Shooting in Public
As we will be following William in the excitement of his daily street photography activities, we will be immersed within public spaces and the pedestrians that traffic there. This means we will have to be discrete, not to distract or disrupt public activity as much as possible. For not only could this be an annoyance for the public, but additionally, we cannot have the public being overly aware of the camera, for it will shatter the cinematic illusion.

Thanks!

Thanks for your donation, you have helped us reach our goal and make this film possible!
