Hello dear humans and welcome to my NEW ALBUM fundraising campaign.

I'm going to be making a new record in early 2020 and I'd love your help in bringing it into the world. I have a swag full of new songs I've been writing over the past couple of years, mostly in those stolen moments between homeschooling my kids, flipping pancakes and turning a dingy old double garage into a beautiful 'listening room' live music venue, called 'Cooee Arthouse'.

These new songs are pretty raw. What will be the first single off the record was written amidst a panic attack. It was late at night, I'd just put the kids to bed and  my heart started pounding, my skin went all clammy, I felt a sense of suffocating and I was shaking uncontrollably. I picked up my guitar and started strumming. I started to calm down and sing whatever words would come out of my mouth and a song emerged. I haven't had a panic attack since, maybe that's because I've quit coffee, but the song surely helped me! Another track was written for my daughter, who as a child of today is facing some of the biggest changes and challenges this country and world have ever seen. Another, written after being deeply moved and inspired by the incredible book, 'Dark Emu' written by Bruce Pascoe. And there's more songs aiming to shine light on the darker shades of things...

Writing has always been a way of expressing the thoughts and feelings that feel trapped inside me, so when I'm sharing my songs, though sometimes scary and extremely vulnerable, I feel like I'm exactly where I need to be and it's almost a relief to get them out of my heart, out of my head, and into the world. I believe the sharing of stories is in the history of all of us and I hope that these new songs not only inspire people to share their stories but also that they challenge the confinements that society can sometimes impose.

The album will be very stripped back, some beautiful cello, double bass, harmonies... nothing too fancy, nothing too sleek. Raw, honest and real. 

I've got a few options of studios, I'm just waiting to see what works best with musicians and timelines. I'll keep you up to date here with all the ins and outs, whos and wheres. 

Last time I crowd funded an album, I spent a long time sewing felt elephants, I love crafting but I don't have that in me this time. There are some cool things on offer though. I've decided to do more experienced based rewards, alongside CD's and Digital Downloads, like helping my friends regenerate unused farmlands by planting trees and native shrubs. There's also tickets up for grabs to the album premiere 'Listening Party', hosted and catered for by me. House concerts, tickets to shows at Cooee Arthouse and plenty of other awesome things. You can also opt for no reward, just that warm fuzzy feeling in your heart that you helped bring someone's dream to life.

I believe creating and learning an Art form, whether it be music, visual arts, dance, scultping or making felt elephants, helps to keep our mental health in check, yet in this country it's so undervalued. It's people like yourselves that keep it alive. As an independent artist it's often a really hard task to make a sustainable career from any art form, and it's our supporters who make it possible.
