How to describe sports sedan racing in Australia?

These cars are works of art, engineering magic and sheer terror, 800 plus HP, V8, Na, turbo or rotary engines sitting next to a driver, protected by thin aluminium, massive carbon wings desperately trying to keep these machines on the track...built in sheds and race factories, built by passionate back yard mechanics and engineering genius's, from 15 grand to over a quarter of a million. No other class has such freedoms, such diversity.

They are the Gods of Thunder, when you hear a grid of sports sedans roar off from a grid, you will understand why this name fits.

So why are you here? 

A - Because you are ace, and would love to see sports sedans covered more

What is this about?

A - Its about bringing sports sedans and other Grass roots racing to you!

Why crowdfund it?

A - Because i dont have the funds to back it, i can dedicate time and knowledge, and enthusiasm. So i thought lets see if the drivers, the fans, the business's around racing can fund it together

I dont totally love racing, why would i care?

A - because this will be more tha just racing, very unique characters exist in sports sedans, and the ontrack battle for the title always goes down to the wire. its exciting for non race enthusiasts.

So me, Ran Maclurkin who will be runs in the State SS series, will be covering the on and off track ativities, with in car cameras, interviews with drivers and organisers, visits to race workshops. During the year footage will be uploaded to youtube channel and Facebook page and to instagram.

All races will be live streamed to Facebook, with pit interviews on the fly and pre recorded for more content.

Sports Sedans are just not covered enough and i know many of you want to see more of them..here is your chance.

2 k really doesnt cover it all, but will get me to a round to get footage and stream races, grab interviews etc

Besides track footage ill be adding Behind the Scenes stuff, and shop visits, build visits etc.

So, check out the pledges, some are more as supporters, others allow you to become part of the action on and off the track, in the end this is all about getting sports sedans out to you, your friends, fans, sponsors and the general racing public.

About the creator

I was brought up on car racing, its my earliest memory. Thats me at Winton Raceway at 8 months old.

At 7 years old i was taken around Baskerville Raceway in Tasmainia in my old mans 302 V8 powered TVR, it blew my mind. My childhood was all racing, i simply had not idea, that everyones dads didnt race.....

My life has taken me many different directions, some amazing, some terrible...... i always come back to my love of racing

And ive chosen the most explosive, expressive and fastest category. Sports Sedans.

The wild, winged Sports Sedans are Motor racing's most modified machines. Under broad rules the category promotes freedom of expression as a legitimate means to an end - and that end is on track performance, lot's of it. At some tracks the Sports Sedan lap record is 2 seconds lower than the V8 Supercar lap record. A full field of National Championship Sports Sedans is indeed an exciting spectacle from the very moment they arrive on the track. The flared fenders, huge wheels and tyres, low front spoilers and large rear wings make these cars stand out as exciting purpose built racing sedans. Presently the leading cars boast around 650 horsepower, over 500 ft pounds of torque and weigh in at around 1000 - 1100 kilograms.
