The Swelling Year
This is a book for all of life's seasons. Seven years ago, I began the process of rediscovering the ancient church calendar, using it as stimulus for my poetry. Working my way through each of the seasons - from the joyful expectation of Advent, through the mourning of Lent, and into the hope of Pentecost - I discovered the gift that the calendar can be, to believers and doubters alike, in giving shape to our lives in a changeable world. The Swelling Year is the product of these seven years of writing - the best poems from those years, put together as a one-year journey through the seasons of the soul and spirit. My hope is that my readers might find a space for themselves in these poems and encounter the holy amidst the very ordinary.
Budget Overview
A print run of 120 copies of the book will cost approximately $850. A larger print run can be done if I exceed my goal. Further copies can also be ordered on demand. I will also be paying a graphic designer $400 for the design of the book cover and for design work throughout the text.
