At Mind For Me it's all about helping people help each other. We're passionate about the community and improving lives for everyday people.

We believe the cost of helping others is far less than the benefit received. The more people are prepared to offer help to others, the happier and easier life can be for us all.

Mission Statement

Mind For Me exists to help people help each other. It brings communities together and empowers people, facilitating a helping hand when needed from those that can help. Mind For Me unlocks and incentivises existing resources within our community. People establish powerful support networks around themselves within Mind For Me, to call on when help is needed.

Our Vision

We see a society with old-fashioned community values, where people know their neighbours and don't think twice about helping each other out. Our future world is one where everyone feels support is close by and no one is alone. We're an engaged and positive community that looks out for one another.

How Does Mind For Me Work?

Mind For Me provides a simple yet powerful approach to establishing effective support networks. Starting with your family profile, you can then request or offer a helping hand. After choosing who, requests and offers go out to the community around you.  Once responses are received, you can review these and accept the one you feel is best for you. Once the help task is done, Kind Coins are transferred from the account of the one receiving the help to the one that gave it.  It's that simple!

What We've Achieved So Far

Over the last two years we've bootstrapped Mind For Me to the pilot stage and during that time:

• Research and consultation with a broad range of community organisations and government;
• Planned a long-term sustainable business model to provide a fully supported viable solution;
• Developed the core platform, soft launched and running live;
• Launched the Pilot Program to test and gather feedback;
• Identified tweaks to be made, areas for refinement and some important functionality to be added; 
• Become a certified Social Trader; and
• Participating in Elevate+, an Accelerator for Social Enterprise

Mind For Me has been committed and working on a solution for years now.  No investment, no government funding. Just sheer hard work with the little we have to build a solution and get it in the hands of those that need it.

We believe everyone has a right to improve their situations, to ask for a helping hand when it's needed. We empower people to make this happen.

How Mind For Me Began

"Back in 2007 I remember seeing friends around me saying no to things or not leaving the home. They were struggling with the usual daily challenges of life as many had young families. I knew they really didn’t have to go without so much. Help was all around us but no one wanted to ask for it and no one knew help was needed.

I knew an elderly lady with family all lending a hand but it was disorganised. I was helping her too and saw she had sometimes no one or other times there was more help than she needed. I wanted to make it easier for everyone to help each other, and without the cost all the time. We often have family, friends and neighbours or others that would be willing to help if they only knew, and it could be done fairly for everyone.

For years I considered the difficulties and challenges. I talked to people, and helped others when needed. It had to be affordable and also sustainable to really work for people long-term. The solution would have to be something everyone can trust and rely upon each and every day.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity. Mind For Me intends to play its part in supporting the achievement of these goals where aligned with our core focus.

FAQs

Why is it better than posting on Facebook or other Social Media? 

There are many reasons including:

• Maintain privacy yet be able to make public requests for help;
• Better control over who you ask for help and privacy on responses;
• Quick with a few clients to request a hand and without "begging for a favour";
• With Ratings and Reviews you can build trust through the help that's been provided;
• No money or feeling of debt, using a fair points-based system; and
• Grow support networks through expanding who you ask for help with Friends of Friends.

How are Kind Coins calculated? 

KCs (Kind Coins) are the basis of a fair and incentivised support network, unlocking more resources from within the community to help. KCs are automatically calculated based on the effort, time, notice and public/bank holidays. An hour of childminding for one child is worth 60 KCs, if giving at least a notice with your request. More urgent requests for help with shorter notice have a 25-50% increase as an incentive to see you get the urgent help you need.

Can I buy or sell Kind Coins?

Simply put no. Helping each other and establishing a supportive community is not about money. Kind Coins can only be earned, mostly through helping others but you can do this when it suits you. There are also incentives where you can earn Kind Coins, such as inviting others to the platform as this helps you and others by increasing our community of support. There are plenty of Uber-like and Airtasker platforms out there for help where you can just pay. Mind For Me is about helping others so you can also get help you need, when you need it and without the cost.

Where can Mind For Me be used?

Mind For Me has been built for everyone, globally. Mobile/cell phone verifications, locations and addresses work for everywhere. We've designed it to handle more languages as it's currently only in English. If we have strong interest in another language, we'll make adding that a priority.

Mind For Me is the platform for you to find help needed in your neighbourhood and manage your offers of help. It’s much easier and faster you to reach those that are local and offer them a hand.

We’ve developed the solution but it needs some tweaks and more functionality… and of course to get it into the hands of those that really need it. That’s why we do need your help, just a few hundred people to support us with a $30 pledge.

Doing this we can get through it together!

We're already progressing with these but the bootstrapping has really been stretched. This comparatively small budget goal will enable us to guarantee the fast completion of all these goals as a minimum to have it fully operational and into the hands of those wanting to help health care workers, essential services, the elderly and others in need.

Refinement and Tweaking

Mind For Me is running live with the pilot program which has identified areas for improvement.  We'll be improving the daily and weekly notifications, the partner/spouse as additional management for a household as well as refining the rating and review process that follows a help task. In addition to this we'll add washing and ironing subcategories to the Home tasks as well as including Pets as an option for your Supported Family members, such as elderly or disabled that might be living elsewhere.

Offers of Help

One thing we keep getting asked is "how do I help someone".  Originally we thought help would be easily exchanged when people ask for it but there are still hesitations in asking.  If no one has asked for help, then there's no help to give.

So...

We'll be introducing a way for you to offer a hand to others.  This will make it even easier to get help. More help going around in our community will benefit us all!

Organisational Groups

As an example... Hospitals, Schools, Defence Force units, Church and Community Groups will all be able to manage a group of users.  This allows requests and offers to be exchanged in such groups where a level of trust may have already been established and support networks can be established.

Essential Services

For those identified as working in health care or essential services, a new function will be introduced to allow the Kind Coin balance going into the negative.  We want to make sure they can get the help they need when they're being stretched working to help us all. We are considering other aspects to this but are currently focused on the immediate solution for them.

Private Groups

We all have friends we trust in different ways.  Sometimes a best mate you'd trust with your life, you wouldn't trust with your kids or pets. It's just how personalities and experiences create who we are.  These private categories would allow you to create groups of friends you can call on for childminding, handyman help and more.  These groups would only be known to you, not even your friends and provide greater control over who you want to ask for help.

We believe in social impact so our rewards are tied to getting Mind For Me into the hands of those that need and will use it. That's why every single reward beyond the Supportive Champ pledge ensures access to Mind For Me is included.
