Mirramu Dance Company Tour, Taiwan
ABOUT THE TOUR (The Project)
Mirramu Dance Company (MDC) has been invited to participate in the Ocean International Dance Festival 2026 in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, at the end of November. This Festival will feature a selection of dance companies from the Asia Pacific region. MDC has been invited to represent Australia and will create a 15 minute new contemporary dance work with 8 performers (5 from Australia and 3 from Dancecology, a Taiwanese dance company that MDC has a 14 year collaborative relationship with).
The importance of MDC being able to attend this festival extends beyond the Festival itself as Elizabeth Cameron Dalman, Artistic Director of MDC and an Australian modern dance pioneer, has a longstanding and deep creative connection to Taiwan spanning 6 decades. In the early 1970’s Elizabeth took Australian Dance Theatre to Taiwan to perform and in that time she met one of Taiwan's modern dance pioneers, Madam Tsai. From this initial meeting of two powerful and passionate dance artists have come many cross-cultural collaborations both in Taiwan and in Australia. Elizabeth describes Taiwan as her 2nd creative home and has worked with many companies, institutions and individuals over those 6 decades.
This project needs to happen now as Elizabeth, now in her 90’s, needs to be supported to continue, and pass on, her legacy of cultural diplomacy and collaboration as a vibrant creator of dance and mentor of artists.
We hope you can support the company to be part of this project but perhaps more importantly support the full and continuing creative life and legacy of Elizabeth Cameron Dalman.
