Motherland is a national charity which supports isolated rural mums across Australia and provides services which reduce isolation, build resilience, and improve mental health outcomes for women on the land.

In March 2024, our charity will be holding our inaugural National Conference in Launceston, Tasmania! Dubbed, ‘Australia’s biggest rural mother’s group’, the event will bring hundreds of rural women to Tasmania for two incredible days, aimed at filling their cups, building meaningful connections, and inspiring women on the land nation-wide, returning them home happier and healthier.

Many rural women won't be able to afford the costs of travelling to our conference- and we need your help to get them here! We need to raise money to fund scholarships for our most vulnerable rural mums to attend the event.

Rural families are facing a very tough season due to plumetting commodity prices, and a very uncertain season due to El Nino. There are growing financial pressures at home on the farm, and when the going gets tough, we know that our community of mothers always put every one else's needs above their own. This event is about giving them an opportunity to fill their own cups, hit pause on the stresses at home, have a break,  and return back to the farm feeling supported and refreshed.

An incredible lineup of speakers has been announced including best-selling author and one of Australia’s leading parenting educators Maggie Dent, 2 x World Para Surfing Champion Sam Bloom, who is the the inspiration behind the #1 global box-office hit Penguin Bloom, and journalist, author, and proud ‘Crap Housewife’ Jessica Rowe. Olympic Gold Medalist and TV presenter Giaan Rooney, who is married to a fifth-generation cattle farmer and lives on their macadamia farm in Northern New South Wales, will MC the Conference.

“Even though my children were 4 and 7 when we moved to the farm, I feel very strongly about Motherland’s mission and the need for better services and connection for those mums living in rural Australia - this is probably due to the fact I have found motherhood the most difficult thing I have ever done” said Giaan.

Announcement of our event follows the growing success of the Motherland movement. The Motherland podcast has been downloaded more than 750,000 times and Motherland Village, Australia’s first online rural mothers group program has connected over 200 women to their own personalised support group in less than two years.

Budget Overview

Our conference will give rural mothers the rare opportunity to see some of the country's most inspiring speakers in the flesh and enable them to take part in specially designed sessions that will improve their emotional wellbeing and help them build meaningful connections and friendships.
