Nowra Domestic Violence Committee

The Nowra Domestic Violence Committee intends to run a public awareness campaign during the 2015 UN sixteen days of Action to eliminate violence against women and girls.

In the nine months to Sept 2015, 63 women have been killed in Australia due to domestic violence.

We want to respond to and combat the national epidemic of domestic and family violence, and to halt the rate of deaths and assaults on women through violent crime. Our campaign using signs, banners, and bumper stickers, mirrors similar action and joins hundreds of other cities, towns and community groups around the world taking Action to "Say NO"in the UN sixteen days 25 November - 10 December.

The Nowra Domestic Violence Committee intends to blanket the Shoalhaven with signs during the sixteen days. The campaign will take local action across the Shoalhaven region to demonstrate a willingness to stand up and "Say NO".
We need the Crowd-funding support to to pay for the "signs" for public places. We need 100 banners & 100 Posters for public spaces. We expect private individuals and businesses will also want to join into take a stand to put out a "Say NO" sign.
We must raise the funds by 31st October, to be able to obtain the signs in-time to set them out on 25 November.

Any additional funds raised will go directly to the establishment of the Nowra Domestic Violence Emergency Assistance Fund. This will be used by the Committee to provide emergency assistance to victims and children of domestic and family violence, vulnerable and in need of support that is not available through regular services. This will be an ongoing legacy of the "Say NO"Campaign.

Our budget goal comprises the fixed costs of printing and production of the Signs Campaign, to be placed in public areas (100 x banners), and community facility buildings (100 x posters). These will blanket the City of Shoalhaven and the 48 villages within.
