Education is the future … in Kenya!
Ongeche is a small community in the west of Kenya. Its a community that faces challenges: poverty, water-borne disease and HIV, and a lack of economic development. It is also a vibrant community with productive land, active community leadership, and a plan for the future.
In 2009, Piye Inc and our generous supporters worked with the Ongeche community to restore and build school infrastructure. This responded to the community's desire to improve access to education for their children: producing a more informed, resilient and healthy generation.
In 2014 we're asking for your help to finalise a science laboratory for the Ongeche high school. The laboratory is now built, and only needs to be fitted out to allow the communities children to apply what they have learnt in class with hands-on access to a working laboratory. In learning by doing, the teachers in the community are confident that student performance will improve, and that the best students will be able to apply for further education in scientific fields.
