Acland St - Grand Lady of St Kilda

We are producing a well researched, beautiful book about the history of Acland Street, St Kilda 1841-2016 to be published in November 2017. The street is one of Melbourne's most important because it mirrors so much of the social change that occurred in Australian cities during the past 175 years. St Kilda has been Melbourne's entertainment centre for 160 years and the home of the most wealthy and the poorest, migrants, artists, sex workers, musicians, criminals and some of the best restaurants and cake shops. The further we travel in our research the more there is to surprise us. We need your support to produce a book that will do the subject justice.
How The Funds Will Be Used

The money raised through the Crowd Funding will be used solely to pay for the design and printing of the book.
The Challenges
One of the challenges is to collect the diverse stories that make up the rich heritage of Acland Street. If you have any stories and would like to share them with us for possible printing in the book please contact Peter by email on [email protected]
We are also looking for images of people and places in Acland Street from any period. If you are able to share any with us it will be a wonderful help.
Of course one of the main challenge is to raise enough money to get the book designed and printed. The writer Judith Buckrich and ATOM are working on deferred wages in the hope the book will sell enough copies for both parties to recoup some of the time and effort both have contributed to the project. The money raised through the Crowd Funding will be used solely to pay for the design and printing of the book.
