Play On Radio is a brand new digital station, home to an informed, diverse and fresh group of presenters, hosting a plethora of new football and music shows. 

The brain child of Melbourne Podcaster, Manager and ardent footy fan, Gemma Bastiani, Play On Radio exists to highlight the cultural crossover between modern music and footy.

Gemma brings together an informed, diverse and fresh group of presenters and genre experts to host a plethora of new shows across Play On Radio, including esteemed Australian journalist, editor, radio host and publicist, Sose Fuamoli, who joins Gemma as Music Programmer across the new station.

Play On Radio launches at a crucial time for footy in Australia, with the AFLW breaking new ground for the game in its first two years. AFL stats showed participation in the sport grew over 10% in 2017, thanks to the inaugural AFLW league, with women making up 30% of the country’s 1.5 million players (a 75% increase in just one year).

Momentum continues to build in the women’s game, with the 2019 league welcoming two new teams in Geelong and North Melbourne. They join the original eight sides, Adelaide, Brisbane, Carlton, Collingwood, Fremantle, GWS, Melbourne and Western Bulldogs. Gold Coast, Richmond, St Kilda and West Coast are also preparing to join the ranks in 2020.

With so much growth on the pitch, the need for more diverse and representative pundits on our airwaves feels more necessary than ever. Cue, Play On Radio. 

But we need a little help — running an online radio station can be kind of expensive (eep!) so we're asking you to help us raise $500 to cover the cost of our server, website and app for the first three months (to give us a little breather!)
