Rap Major

Friends and hip hop loving humans,

After more than two decades making music together in various projects, we have spent the last four years writing and recording  a full length LP, ‘Rap Major’.

The beats were produced by Peter on the mighty MPC4000, raps written on various picnic benches and delivered in Joel’s bexley studio and mixed and mastered by our long time friend and collaborator Jack Prest. The only guest is our good friend Ines who lends her vocals to one song. 

We are humbled to be releasing the LP through Sydney’s finest hip hop soul providores Low Key Source to help us get this album out to our community and the world.

We’ve launched this pozible to raise funds to press the album to vinyl before we release in Nov 2025.

We are so proud of this album, every song is a gem and we can’t wait for you to hear it.

Album Process

We have been working on this album for about 4 years, slowly writing and recording between work, study and other projects. All beats were produced on the MPC 4000, all raps recorded by Joel and then mixed and mastered by Jack Prest. 

Next step is releasing the finishing the vinyl layout with NMBR 19 and releasing the first single and music vid directed by Stack Hat in July (watch this space), single launch, then album to be released later in 2025 through Sam Dutch and Low Key Source.

Loose Change

Together with mates Ellesquire and DJ Sam Zubrycki we formed the group Loose Change in 2008, releasing our debut eponymous album in 2010, and our second album 'Listening Party' in 2014. We released a number of tunes on the Big Village Records compilations Big Things 1 & 2 (2011 & 2012). P.Major and Ellesquire worked together on LS's debut album 'Ready' in 2011.  We had some big wins with Loose Change including winning Triple J unearthed NIDA competition in 2014, touring with Thundamentals and collaborating with Ozi Batla, Jeswon, Tenth Dan, Laneous & Meklit. Big love to LS, Sam all the people that came with us on the ride.

Joel Rapaport bio

Rapaport, co-founder of Big Village Records and creator of hip-hop theatre show Sketch The Rhyme, has released three solo albums Roadkill (2024), Village Idiot  (2018), and Laughing On The Inside (2008) and two EPs, Dodo (2022) Patterns (2014). He is currently studying Jazz Performance at Sydney Conservatorium. ‘Roadkill’ received acclaim from Beat Mag: “[Rapaport has] consistently pushed creative boundaries”, 2SER Radio “incredible musicality.. one of the most heartfelt releases of 2024” and AMRAP “[Rapaport is a] hip hop mainstay…..[The song ‘Gardener’ from Roadkill is] gentle, sweet and clever.” 

Peter Farrar (P.Major) bio  

Jazz Saxophonist and producer Peter Farrar, is a Freedman Jazz Fellowship finalist (2015), has released five instrumental hip-hop albums as P. Major, and a solo experimental saxophone album ‘Avocado’ (Split Rec, 2016) and is a member of Splinter Orchestra and The Prophets. He has performed with jazz luminaries Mike Nock, Pheeroan Aklaff (US), Wadada Leo Smith (US), and Cor Fuhler (NL). Peter Farrar is a graduate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with a degree in Jazz Performance. Jazz critic John Clare, who describes him as a formidable player, says that “everything he plays is his unmistakably” (Clare, the music trust, 2016).
