Stitch Poetry, the book
Stitch Poetry is my debut collection! 36 poems woven together with threads of loving, breaking, mending, and beginning again. These poems were written over a decade in the quiet hours, the messy hours, the holy hours. Most of them were written on Wadandi Pibelmun country where I live and work in the exquisite SouthWest of Australia.
These poems are small clues, soft lanterns, tiny rituals for anyone trying to make sense of being human at this CRAZY time in history. Prepare to be taken on an emotional journey from the heights of celebration to the depths of despair and back again through colourful worlds where whimsical imagery meets hard hitting concepts.
I’ve been performing some of these poems on stages across Western Australia for many years, in theatres, at festivals, in living rooms, and community halls. If you are one of the people who have approached me after a show and expressed a wish to read more of my work, this book is my answer to your wish!
I’m ready to bring Stitch Poetry into the world as a beautifully crafted physical object you can hold, read and re read, underline, dog ear or tuck secretly into the pocket of someone you care about who could do with an unexpected gift of whimsy-wisdom.
I’m raising funds for:
1. Professional editing
2. Book design and layout
3. Original artwork
4. Printing costs
5. Book launches
Thank you so much for your encouragement and support!!!
Budget Overview
$4,000 - The Stitch
This is the thread that holds the book together: editing, design, printing, and the materials to send it off into your hands.
$5,000 - The Fabric
With this support, the book becomes sturdier and more beautiful, better paper, a larger print run, and space to bring in another artist’s hands.
$6,000 - The Garment
Here, the book gains artwork, texture, and a launch to celebrate and welcome the poems into the world.
$7,000 - The entire outfit!!
At this level, the project can expand into a larger scale including more professional performances and a series of launches in W.A.
