The Sydney University Presents: SEANCE REVUE

Science Revue is a variety show conceived, created and performed by students in the name of charity and fun! Consisting of a vast range of sketches featuring comedy, singing, dance, and a live band, Science Revue provides an outlet for students from both within and out of the Science faculty to express and develop their creative talents, and raise funds for our long standing partner, Cystic Fibrosis Community Care NSW.

Supported by the University of Sydney Union, Science Revue has been enriching the student experience since 2005. It is a large undertaking, but creating a welcoming space for a diverse group of students – of both STEM backgrounds and beyond – to be part of a fantastic show each year makes it all worth it as, throughout the revue year, lifelong friendships and professional relationships are forged.

Throughout 2021 and moving into 2022, The cast and crew of Science Revue presents: SEANCE REVUE have exceeded all expectations, having endeavoured through difficult setbacks to the production process to deliver the full Science Revue experience in the safest manner possible. We will always be grateful for the community and companionship garnered by the students during the difficult parts of the past year, and we admire the resilience of every member involved with the creation of the show.

Your financial support of the show will honour the effort of the students' contribution to the production, as well as enhancing our ability to increase our donation to Cystic Fibrosis Community Care NSW. How The Funds Will Be Used

The Fundraising Train is approaching the station and whilst we have received grants from the Faculty and Union, your support can help us put on an even greater show than you could ever imagine and more importantly, allows us to make an even bigger donation to Cystic Fibrosis Community Care.

The funds that we raise will from this project will be spent in several important areas:

1. The cost of booking the theatre space and tech crew

2. Props, set and costumes to make our show pretty

3. Providing meals for our cast members during our all-day weekend rehearsals and show week.

4. Promoting the heck out of our show to help boost ticket sales and increase the amount of revenue that we can donate to Cystic Fibrosis Community Care.

5. Keeping the society running so that we can continue to put on fantabulous shows for many years to come.

6. Any extra money that we receive that isn't needed for the show will be donated directly to the Cystic Fibrosis Community Care.

The Challenges

Thanks to the generosity of the University of Sydney Union, the Faculty of Science and our major sponsors Specsavers Broadway and Environmental Geochemistry International, we're able to cover the basic costs of keeping the society running, but for the extra push we need to make the show viable we rely on fundraising drives and donations to bring our show to life.  

As we donate most of our proceeds (and any extra money we have lying around) to the Cystic Fibrosis Community Care, we have to start from scratch every year to raise money for our show. We have democratically elected treasurers who ensure that we remain within budget in the event of any unexpected shortfalls, but our success and thus the amount we're able to donate to Cystic Fibrosis is largely dependent on how much money we're able to raise towards our production.
