Silver Sircus

In 2025, Silver Sircus unveiled their new album METAL, completely comprised of radically reinterpreted covers of songs by UK synth pioneer and songwriter Gary Numan. A sharp musical left turn, led by piano, dual cellos and the distinctive vocals of Lucinda Shaw, the band reimagined the material as dramatic chamber-music-inspired art songs, stripped back to shine an eerie, unique light on Numan's vivid lyrics and melodies. Completely curated by Silver Sircus’s core duo of Shaw and drummer/pianist James Lees - the album is drawn from Numan's 1978-1981 era, featuring some of his best known songs from this time as well as several deep cut album tracks and even a rare B-side.

Initially, an online release only, Silver Sircus have responded to multiple requests for a vinyl version of the album which is now being prepared for release in early December 2025. For this LP release, the album's original 10 songs will be augmented with the inclusion of their dramatic cover of Numan's 'We Are Glass', recorded for release as the B-side to the 'Down In The Park' single. Limited to 100 copies only, this edition of the album will be presented on clear vinyl.

In addition to the album, Silver Sircus are offering bundles including the brand new Silver Sircus T-shirts as well as the opportunity to add 2016 double album Incarnadine. 

Through this pre-order campaign, we are hoping to meet 3/4 of the total cost of producing the vinyl version of METAL. These costs include licensing, mastering, additional and re-worked artwork & design and of course the manufacture of the album being done through Suitcase Records in Brisbane/Meanjin.
