The idea for the malt shop be-bop hop came about when a festival producer with a love of the idea that life is a stage, an obsession with all things on 8 wheels, and a desire to contribute something fun to the festival community this stage / arena was born...
Many amazing contributors have jumped on board to help... we have bodies ready to build it, jam and dance sport instructors ready to teach you how to roll, even teach you how to dance to Thriller on roller skates... we've got DJs busting their bits to have you hopping all morning long, and the Morning Joint will even have a cafe running for all your refreshment needs... now we just need you!

What we're asking of you: A) throw us $5 or $10 right now... you won't miss it and we could really use it, you're helping make this dream a reality! B) let us know if you can hook us up with any of the materials listed above, or any others you think we'll need (structural timer and joists - doesn't have to be new but does need to be in good nick; timber offcuts for packers, screws, truck tarps, transport to any of the venues we'd love to be at (Rainbow Serpent; Burning Seed; City Street Parties & more): the more of this we find the lmore we can put into jazzing up the stage, adding and Audio and Lighting rig into the setup and commissioning artists to make the deck beautiful ... and weather-proof! c) Don't forget to bring your roller skates with you this summer (you'll be kicking yourself when you find you've left yours at home!!) d) Show up!! All programmed activities will be listed on the forums, and probably FB... keep your ear to the ground for when fun stuff is happening

How The Funds Will Be Used

We wanna bring the funnerest roller skating area you've ever seen to a festival near you. We're aiming to crack this one out at Rainbow Serpent '14 in Lexton, maybe have it at a city Street Party in March, and roll it out for Burning Seed '14 in Matong and who knows from there... Essentially we're after raising enough funds for:
structural flooring timber (yellow tongue) for a 10.8m x 9m floor we'll need 27 x [3600x900] @$40 ea
and joists 25 x 9m = 225m @$2.50 lm

Beyond this we'll need packers, and a tarp to protect it from the weather, lighting etc. We'll happily have it available for a community resource, so if you can think of fun things to do with it, we wanna hear about it!!
If we raise extra funds, treating the surface is an option so it has a longer life, as is adding more of the fun stuff to the project. Everything that is raised will stay within the idea of theme camps gifted to the community so any $ raised will be tipped back into it's maintenance so we can have fun with it for ages!

The Challenges

people will fall over, but the project will not :) We've got qualified folk looking at our risk management assessments for the festival organisers, plenty of padding and helmets for those who don't fancy so many bruises, and we're hoping that if people bring skates they'll know (vaguely) how to use them... let see shall we :)
DON'T forget your skates - but we'll have some fun times dancing on the floor as well - so dancing shoes can be a thing as well...
