We are a Brisbane based crew made up of former creative arts students and this is our first production, post graduation. We are putting our education to great use, going out on our own to create a project that reflects both our talent and our passion for filmmaking. The script, written by Talisha Elger plays to the imagination and should prove to be a visually intriguing film.

 ‘The Fears of Young Caroline’ is a thought-provoking story that plays to the sexual undertones often associated with a visit to the dentist. This short film will incorporate fantasy with reality as it subtly explores loss of innocence on the precipice between childhood and adolescence.

FROM THE DIRECTOR…

“When I was young my parents would take me to the movies every weekend, but it was always to see movies they wanted to see, not ones that were more ideal for a child. I think I started to develop a deep and mature understanding for film because I was exposed to a great variety of them.

I became a massive fan of horror when I was 12 and I would spending every Friday afternoon in the horror section of the video store hunting for the scariest. When I saw Stanley Kubrick’s ‘The shining’ I realised that this is what I wanted to do, make highly visual, stylised cinema, play with the audience’s reality and ask questions people may not be ready to answer.

After writing The Fears of Young Caroline, I knew this was a project that had to be brought to light. I wanted to create something I hadn’t seen come out of the Australian film industry and I believe this script is a huge step away from the ‘safer’ subjects that often appear in Australian films.

Making films make me the most happy, I always look forward to starting a new project and this is why I know this is where I need to be, working in this industry, doing what means the most to me.”

HOW YOU CAN BE INVOLVED...

Each dollar donated will contribute to the completion of the film. Our minimum goal is $3000, but we know that our ultimate aim of $5000 will help us to achieve the best possible film and allow us to market The Fears of Young Caroline to film festivals in every corner of the globe. Funding raised through this campaign will be distributed to our Camera Department and Production Design Department for extra equipment, to make the most of what is seen in front of the camera, as well as general production costs such as permits, insurance and safety considerations. As all our cast and crew are volunteering their time for this project, we would also hope to cover personal costs, such as fuel traveling to and from locations and food and drink throughout the shoot.

We are asking for dollar amounts to match the rewards we have on offer, however we would be more than happy to discuss a reward for donation of products, items and equipment for use.
