We have a once in a lifetime opportunity to have legendary engineer and producer John Merchant produce our next album, right here in Brisbane!
John has previously worked with an amazing collection of musicians, songwriters, producers & engineers. His credits include Michael Jackson, Lenny Kravitz, Michael Buble, Bee Gees, Barbra Streisand, R. Kelly and Celine Dion as well as producers Raphael Saadiq, Phil Ramone, Arif Mardin, David Foster, Russ Titelman and many others.
In 2008, John was nominated for a Grammy as producer for the artist Mika and his work on 'Grace Kelly' - check it out below!
We are also fortunate enough to have secured Heliport Studios for the recording of this album. Heliport is a world class studio with state of the art technology, designed so the whole band can record together to capture the maximum energy and vibe, which is exactly what we hope to achieve on this album.
Having self funded our past two releases, we are now asking you, our fans, our friends and our families to get behind this project and support what is undoubtedly the most exciting opportunity we've had since forming back in 2009.
We think the songs we're workshopping for the new album are our best yet and it seems John thinks so too.

How The Funds Will Be Used
Some of you may not know that we have never paid ourselves with the performance fees we make from gigs. Instead, we all chose to work day jobs so that the money we make as a band can go toward projects such as our previously released albums, touring, video clips and merchandise.
We have already raised the funds to purchase John Merchants flights from Nashville and covered some of the initial deposits required to secure the dates! Your generous contributions will assist in raising the immediate funds required to get this project off the ground and we will continue to contribute all our performance fees to this project to ensure it has every chance of success.
The target we have set for this campaign is $10,000, which is only a fraction of the funds we need to raise to pay for the following:
- John Merchant Producers Fee
- Heliport Studio Fee
- Album Mastering
- CD Pressing
- Accommodation

The Challenges
The biggest challenge we are faced with for this project is securing the funding required to pay the incredible people and facilities we currently have on board. If we do not reach our target with this campaign we will need to cover the costs ourselves which would ultimately mean postponing the project and losing the thousands of dollars we have already invested as well as inconveniencing John Merchant, who has already made arrangements to travel overseas, away from his family during the Christmas holiday period.

Poster Design or Band Photo Shoot A poster or flyer designed for your business/band OR a band photo shoot by Hayden Hayden (Cheap Fakes Singer/Guitarist). Hayden designs the majority of Cheap Fakes gig posters and album artwork and has done photo shoots for bands including Kingfisha, The Rusty Datsuns, Tramp Fiesta, Rollerball and many more. We can supply examples of his work if required. Must be at a mutually agreeable time and location.
