Hi! I'm Ginger, and I'm the lady behind this compilation. Pleased to make your acquaintance. A bit about me: I'm a Melbourne-based music lover, I work as a Production Coordinator and am studying a Masters of Arts and Cultural Management. Sometimes I sing. Sometimes I take photographs. This is a passion project for me. What I'll get out of this is an experience that money can't buy.



I love the Divinyls, always have, always will, and I want to make a tribute compilation in Chrissy's honour. But first, here's a song from the amazing woman herself:

Chrissy Amphlett, lead singer of the Divinyls, is a personal hero of mine. Like many Australians, I grew up listening to Divinyls music. She was definitely a rock goddess! Since her passing last year, after battling breast cancer, I've wanted to do something to honour the contribution Chrissy made to Australian music. Thankfully, I know quite a few talented Australian singers and musicians, and they've generously agreed to be a part of this project, reworking a Divinyls classic in their own unique way.

So, with your help, we're going to make a music compilation album of Australian nu-soul, jazz, and electronic artists re-imagining 15 Divinyls songs!

At this stage, the only way to get a copy of the finished album will be to donate to this crowd funding campaign! If this project is a raging success (i.e. we raise the targeted amount) I'll be doing all I can to get it out to the masses (which will take a considerable amount of more work - but I'm up for it!). I want to keep people talking about Chrissy's legacy and her contribution to Australian music. I also want to get the album in record stores, and donate profits to MS Society and Breast Cancer Network.

The money raised through this campaign will go towards completing the compilation album.
This is the bare minimum we'll need in order to see a finished product:

$5600 - Recording & Mixing
$800 - Mastering
$320 - Licensing
$550 - Manufacture of 200 limited edition promotional CDs*
+ 10% Pozible/paypal/credit card fees :-)

*Any additional funds raised will be used to manufacture more copies or promote the album.

All songs will need to be approved by the original song's publisher. I see this less as a creative challenge, and more of an administration challenge. It will just take time to jump through this necessary hoop, I'm afraid.

One undeniable challenge of this project will be the sheer logistics of coordinating 14 different artists. Fortunately, I love coordinating, and I also love all of the artists involved. So, it shouldn't be a problem.
