I have a skydiving voucher and I've considered using it for a date or even for myself. But I would rather use it to change someone else's life, either to impact them for their future or to give them one memorable experience amidst their painful journey.
The idea is this, I want to bring someone (a homeless individual, a marginalised child i.e. terminally ill, in foster care, someone that has been having a tough life and needs a pick-me-up) for a MAKEOVER*. I am thinking that it will consist of:
1)Lunch
2) A haircut
3) New clothes
4) Skydiving
5) Dinner
6) A place to stay for the next 3 nights with food and/or money
Ultimately, I want to tell everyone that we are already so blessed to have so much, so when we are given more, we should consider how we can give to those who have a lot less than us.
1)Lunch - $30
2) A haircut - $40
3) New clothes - $180
4) Skydiving - Voucher
5) Dinner - $50
6) A place to stay for the next 3 nights with food and/or money - $50x3 (Motel fees) $20x3 (food) (to be sponsored by
billionBRICKS)
billionBRICKS has very kindly offered to support us but we are unsure what the final amount is yet that they have raised, so we'll just set the budget at the maximum and reduce it from there
I foresee that it will be tough to ensure that the impact os long term and for me to consistently maintain contact with the beneficiary. Also, another point of criticism is how I will pick that individual and I believe that as long as I try my best to talk to as many people as I can, I will be contented with whoever I decide to bring skydiving. At the end of the day, if I have given him/her the experience of their lifetime, that is great!
