Hi everyone, thanks for having a read and showing your interest.
So what's this all about?
In it's purist form I have created this Pozible as I am trying to raise money to buy film equipment to make a short film in Mongolia. My original paintings and illustrations are the rewards for your kind donations. Please read on to understand why, what when and how.
I have been a drawer since I can remember. When I finished high school I began painting in my home in Coogee (Sydney). If I wasn't getting drunk or working, I was painting. My home was full of canvases and paint materials, I kept this up for five years. Painting girlfriends, Sex, the beach, my mind, friends, weird, surrealist, ambitious, you name it. If it was out there, then I wanted to document it. I moved to Melbourne and I suddenly stopped painting. I saw the environment around me and for some reason put my work on hold. Observing the art around me without participation. Every now and then I would do an exhibition, but they were mainly in pencil or they were to raise money for something else.
It always seemed strange to me that I painted non-stop while living in Sydney. Then when I moved to Melbourne I went completely cold turkey becoming more of an observer. I think this is a result of a sea change. My influences were changing too and I become more involved in new mediums and styles, graphic design and Illustration. Then finally I found a new obsession to home my creative process. This was FILM.
I always loved making short movies on iMovie, but I never thought I'd become so involved. I enrolled in University and after three years I had produced four short films. Producing was also an area I never thought I'd end up, especially with a background in the more practical, creative elements of a project. After seeing the possiblilities that film can provide I haven't been able to look back.
I received a thorough understanding of the process of getting films off the ground and I have a reasonable amount of experience, I feel it's now time to set out and create something of my own. A short film that combines art, narrative and documentary together. A drama about a couple living in Mongolia that is based off the life I will be living. Events and story will be based off real events but rather than a accurate recollection, true events will be re-imagined almost completely opposite to how they really happened. Depending on the event, it may still be recorded as a true reflection. Based on a true story in documentary style it will become difficult to determine which scenes within the film were true and which were re-imagined for the purpose of story. In a country that, up until 20 years ago was a communist nation. A place where English is uncommon, and the land in parts is untouched and only the Nomadic exist. Here is where I want to dive into my long lost process as an artist and create a vision of a modern relationship in a somewhat rare living condition.
Now I must be honest I didn't just wake up one day and say I'm going to Mongolia. The opportunity arose when my girlfriend of two months, who I had previously known and worked with for over a year was applying for a 'fresh out of uni' dream Job that was based in Mongolia. This relationship was different to any other I've ever experienced, I could only describe it as hardcore, insane love and the beginning of what might be 'the adventure of my life'. She got the job. After a couple of days of freaking out I awkwardly asked 'what can I do? I mean, if I was to come with you to Mongolia?' I didn't want to let this go and a large part of me new I'd regret it if I did. So between then and now I put a lot of thought into what I could do, firstly to have an income and secondly to keep doing what I love. So I enrolled in a TESOL course in order to learn the skills to become an English teacher. Which is an opportunity in itself to expand on my grammar and understanding of the english language for my won writing as well as a way to survive in Mongolia. Then, I came up with a plan to make my own film.
My aim is to buy my own DSLR and Lens as well as some basic recording equipment. Unfortunately I have struggled to save up most of the funds at the same time as buy the travelling equipment and complete a TESOL course by the deadline. So when I was packing up all of my things I realised I have a shit load of paintings and illustrations that I have accumulated over the years and thought what better way then to give them away to people who donate on Pozible, which is a fund raising website I've used three times successfully in the past.

To describe the project exactly is impossible as most of the writing will be done in Mongolia, I have a basic story to begin with so I'm going to go from there. What I do plan to do is move away from solid producing for a year, focusing on writing in a documentary short experimental film as well as becoming familiar with using Digital Camera and equipment, lenses and sound recording devises. In three years of film school I never once pressed record on a camera, but this wasn't because I didn't want to, this was because I was dedicated to producing. I have no problem with getting a film project off the ground if i believe in it. Now it's time for me to show you what i'm made of and go out of my comfort zone with my bare essentials and a film gear and create something new, mine and entertaining.
So if you've seen my Paintings and drawings and you're interested in hanging one on your wall, please donate to My pozible and send me to Mongolia with a camera. You are welcome to donate if you would just like to support my new project too. I will love you forever.
Should I raise the funds on Pozible, they will be used to buy filming equipment.
-lenses
-camera body
-sound recording equipment
-tri-pod, bag, memory cards and spare batteries.
The Biggest obstacle right now is buying the equipment. It's in my nature to want to be out of my comfort zone and learning by experience. I don't fear the scale or challenges ahead and the same goes for all projects I have worked on or Produced, every mistake, hurdle or success is a new learning experience and a chance to think on your feet and be creative. Lessons I will take to the next project and the next and the next. See you when I return. Thank you for your support.
