Help me Marry You!
I want to become a Wedding celebrant in order to marry some of my nearest and dearest- old friends and potential new friends!
A Wedding is such a special day/night and I want to be able to make it that little bit more unique and personal so it is remembered as not just like the 133 others your guests will be part of this year!
My story.
I have worked in and around weddings for somewhere around five years. I started as a junior serving soup and in time ended up planning and executing the whole day. I even scored the trophy for best Master of Ceremonies in Victoria in 2009*. I guess what I am trying to say is that I am really into Weddings, and apparently pretty good at them too! In my last few years I have strayed from Weddings living and working in various classrooms in London teaching Mandarin. Now that I am back in Melbourne with no plans to leave just yet I am keen to add some colour and variation to my days, teaching our youth on some days and marrying lovers (not my own hopefully!) on others.
I married friends late last year and was told I did a "stella job". the ceremony, as requested by the couple, was light-hearted, funny, personal and yet tear-jerking all the same! As I was not yet qualified, I did have a registered celebrant to say all the legal jargon but the rest of the ceremony I wrote and delivered myself -and loved it!
Now I want to marry people all by myself! But this is where I need your help. Please.

What's in it for you?
Pozible contributors with a little trust and sense of adventure can pre-pay their ceremony for a fraction of the cost of what they would pay an already registered celebrant. Obviously I can only complete these ceremonies once I am qualified and registered so Weddings in 2016 are most likely. I promise to deliver a ceremony filled with love, laughs and life and one that will be recalled by you and each of your guests as the best ceremony they have ever been to. I can only say this as this was what was said to me multiple times over when I married my friends.
For those of you interested to engage with my project but have Wedding dates a little sooner (or not yet found that special one), you have two choices; you can pledge to receive a discount on a future ceremony or I can send you a Wedding Planning Guide based on my Melbourne experience planning and delivering Wedding Receptions. This will help you know where to start, when to book bits and pieces and the best people for the job!
How can you help?
In order to perform marriage ceremonies in Victoria I must obtain a Certificate IV in Celebrancy CHC42608 and then apply for registration with the Attorney General. Lucky for me (and potentially you) this qualification is nationally recognised meaning I can marry couples from Ballarat to Broome!
*I cannot take full credit for this award in 2009 as it was shared with my dear friend and colleague (at the time) Andy.
How The Funds Will Be Used
The course that I am intending to enrol in is with the Australian Celebrations Training Centre. It is the Certificate IV in Celebrancy comprising of 13 units and approximately 550 hours of study. Once I am qualified I need to register with the Attorney General Department of Australia. This process requires application and registration.
Course Fees $795
Application Fee $600
Registration Fee $240
TOTAL $1,645
The Challenges
I live with a 'don't cross the bridge until you come to it' attitude for life and so don't yet see the need for 'plan b' when I foresee 'plan a' as being successful. I guess in the words W.E Hickson, if at first I don't succeed, I will try, try, try again!
Are there likely to be any obstacles in completing my study?
I dont foresee any issues in completing the work. I aim to complete my studies in 9 months. The registration process can take up to three months meaning I would be ready to go by January 2016. I am a driven and determined person naturally and knowing that others are relying on me further fuels this drive. Have faith all will be well. And, in a worst case scenario if it is not, your financial contributions will be refunded.

Wedding Planning Guide
I will compile and send a thorough Wedding Planning and Services guide (Melbourne-based) from my experience working in the industry. It will detail how and where to start aswell as a timeline for when certain things need to be finalised. It will also include recommendations for people and/or services to make your big day, yours!
$200 off!
Pledge $100 to save $200! Not yet sure on a date? Not engaged? No worries! I'll send you a coupon to use at a later date entitling you to $200 off the standard price of a Wedding Ceremony with me. This may be used anytime after January 2016 when I expect to be qualified.
Wedding Ceremony
Pre-pay your Wedding Ceremony- at a fraction of the cost of an already registered Celebrant! I promise to deliver a ceremony with a touch of flair- it will be unique as you wish and yet include all the legal bits to ensure your union is official in the eyes of the law. If all goes to plan, I should be qualified and registered for 2016 ceremonies. As I am Melbourne-based, if you are planning a ceremony out of the Melbourne Metro area, we would need to talk about possible extra travel charges.
