THE HECKLER is a feature-length comedy about a self-obsessed comedian who has his body hijacked by the spirit of a jealous heckler, and how he tries to reclaim it before his career as a stand-up is ruined now that an idiot is in charge.

Shot on location in Melbourne, it stars Simon Mallory (Comedy Inc), CJ Fortuna (Any Questions for Ben), Kate Jenkinson (Offspring) and Emily Taheny (Shaun Micallef's Mad as Hell), along with other comedy performers Dave Lawson (Utopia), Scott Harrison (Charlie & Boots), Tony Martin, Jeff Green and many others.


This is an independently produced film written by Steve Mitchell, directed by Ben Plazzer and produced by both - with a lot of help from a host of great people who believed in what we were doing.
After two years of effort, the film is essentially complete, but we've run out of money for the final stage of mastering for release.

"Oh well, I guess they didn't make it to the finish line, good effort guys…"

This film was produced without the luxury of government funding. Many people donated their time or worked for reduced rates because they saw we were making a fun film. Please help us finish and premiere it - and become part of 'The Heckler' family!

Funds raised will help pay for the film's final post-production costs such as the sound mix, mastering of the Digital Cinema Print, legals, captioning, cinema hire and marketing materials. We also need to hire a publicist who can help us navigate the media jungle to effectively announce the birth of our film to the world via these premiere screenings.
Unfortunately, none of this is cheap...

We've made the film, now comes the hard part - selling it. 
This means putting it on the radar of the general public. 
These days people are spoilt for choice with dozens of ways to watch films - most without leaving their homes. 
These MAY be the only big public screenings we have of the film...

Which would be a shame because watching comedy is much more enjoyable with a crowd. And there's nothing like the excitement of a sold-out premiere screening.
