James' beautiful ex-girlfriend Lola visits him searching for a missing book of Pablo Neruda poems. Despite his housemate Lou’s best efforts, James decides to take a chance on 'true love' and convince Lola that they’re meant to be together.

The film will be filled with symbolism and motifs, drawn from the richly established genre of magic realism.

Bright, graphic images, like a whole cooked fish that Lou makes for James, make striking set pieces and feed into the design.

The film is set in a townhouse in contemporary Melbourne, but reflects the old world of classic magic realist texts.

Designer - Gulsum Guler Ozen
Gulsum is assisted by designers Ketara Budd and Jaz Tweeddale .A film with such a specific style faces a challenge in integrating the vision inherent in the writing into the aural and visual style of the film. We have a great team assembled already, and we're united by our love of the magic realism style.
Once the shooting of the film is complete, the single biggest challenge we face is finding an audience for this work. Our producer, Mariani Vermeend, is working hard at distributing the film as successfully as possible.
