OUR STORY

David Price, is a successful university professor, historian and outspoken atheist. One day, his nephew arrives at his front door, asking him to return to his small, country hometown. Why? His brother is dying from the very same disease that took his father's life when he was a young boy. Coming home he revisits old sites, meets old flames, and finds himself back int he grips of the Church he fought to leave, and the secrets hidden within it.

Backstory
This is has been four years in the making, based on the director's past experience of loss, love, regrets and reglious differences. David Price, the main character, is also modelled after the director's father. To be directed by Jordan Buck, produced by Paul Zagoridis, and with cinemtography by Daniel Lyons. This an emotionally powerful, intriguing and moving story that we believe deserves to make it to screen. We Believe in our story and want to bring it to reality for others to believe in too. 

Themes & style
This family drama is rooted around heavy issues such as losing a loving parent, death, religion and family reconciliation. The films main theme is brotherly love and responsibility as our protagonist David Price is forced to reflect on his choices, life and love and learn to open his world for the people he's let down. Much of the style and inspiration for this movie have been movies such as Silver Linings Playbook and indie black comedy Little Miss Sunshine, both highly recommended watches! We'll be shooting in both the heart of Sydney CBD and the suburban/rural Australian environments to contrast the fast paced private bachelorhood life our protagonist leads to the very public judgements of the small town of his childhood.

WHAT WE NEED

-Camera
With a little luck, and some good timing, we'll be able to use the brand new BlackMagic URSA Mini 4.6k camera to capture our film. Utilising its large dynamic range, and beautiful filmic texture, we hope to give the film a detailed and beautiful look to wow audiences on the big screen. We'll hopefully be shooting in CinemaDNG Uncompressed 4k 2.4:1 mode, and down converting to a color corrected 2k workflow. This will allow to collect the maximum possible fine detail, light and color information of the scene, and be able to conform to and DCP (Digital Cinema Specification) in the world. Your contributions will go towards acquiring the camera and accessories, as well as the media required to store out digital negatives.

-Lighting and Sound
With any good picture, we'll require great light, and equally fantastic sound. To bring to life our film will require delicate sleight of hand with the lighting and with the sound recording. Our hope is to be able to utilise a RODE NTG-3 with a Zoom H6 for the audio, but if we meet our budget we will be able to bring a full time soundie on board, and arm them with a Sennheiser 416 and lapel mics for a truly filmic level of sound production. As for lighting, to achieve the subtle highlights of a naturally lit scene, and the soft contour effects on the actors faces requires an extensive kit of lights or different strengths, different colors, different diffusions, and different gels. Quite simply, the more lighting gear you have, the better your lighting will be.
 
-Makeup and Costumes
With beautiful picture, beautiful lighting and beautiful sound, we'll need our actors to look their absolute best as well. To achieve the natural, and beautiful look of the strange race of creatures known as film characters, we'll need the best Makeup and Makeup artist we can possibly get. To make our actors truly fall into their characters, we'll need to make sure they are dressed to the part. Your donations will help us dress our actors in clothes for their parts, students, preachers, teachers etc.
 
-Catering 
No-one likes filming on an empty stomach, especially when you're working at your hardest. With your donations, we'll be able to make sure we have a healthy and substantial amount of food for our cast and crew to eat through the production.

-Travel 
Making sure everyone gets to location, and back each day, is given accommodation when required, and compensated when working on the film gets in the way of their regular commitments.

We have wonderful PRIZES AND PERKS available. Which copy, tickets and includes the director having her head shaved by one lucky local donator. Which well be streamed on youtube, vine and other social media for both promotions for the film and bring awareness for Leukemia. Funding if not reached target goal will still go toward making one hell of a film.

CHALLENGES
Our main challenge will be distribution once the movie is finalised, we are aiming to enter it into both local and international film festivals.

Other challengers include putting the film through the highest possible quality of post-production, to make sure the film lives and breathes when you see it in cinemas. A high quality edit, color grade and sound mix will be essential.

Finding the right locations for filming. Not just locations that are right for the scene, but ones that are accessible for a film crew, and are transport accessible.
