We have uploaded a little bit about Progeny from the cast and crew, check it out here --> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbopsnIaWgs
On the 14th and 21st of April we screened some footage from the Pilot at Melbourne and Gold Coast's Supanova Pop Culture expos - we had an overwhelmingly positive response. Post-screening we asked all attendees to fill in a quick survey to give us their overall impression of the show, please see some of the questions asked and their amazing responses;
What was your overall impression of the show?
“Great!”
“Interesting premise, intriguing, lots of potential”
“Very impressed, some of the flashes (intro) were a little more than required. The car scene flash was great”
“I felt the dialogue and story structure were great and has loads of potential”
“Interesting, definitely want to see more”
“Dark, gritty, a lot of promise”
“Beautifully shot! So different for Australia. I like!”
“Very impressed. Love the way it was filmed, loved the gritty feel. Makes the characters seem believable”
“Good! Especially on such a small budget!”
“Gritty, very raw, definite mystical undertones”
“Fun and engaging”
“It was interesting, it caught my attention, although with a bit more production it could be better”
“Great premise and cinematography. Has a lot of potential but needs to improve on pacing, transitions and mixing sound”
“Dark. Interesting. Kind of experimental. Technology probably needs improving, budget obvious problem, very good otherwise”
“Really interesting”
“I enjoyed the premiere of the pilot and I look forward to hopefully seeing more”
“Enjoyed the opening nightmare, very well done!”
What characters did you like most? Why?
“Mum was an interesting take on Satan, she seemed strong and intelligent”
“The Devil is very well placed and acted”
“I liked the lead protagonist mother, she was compelling. All characters were interesting. I liked young Zach and the character at the very end was compelling”
“Lucifer. Evil but relatable”
“Lucifer. Beautifully acted and a complicated character”
“Lucifer. Seemed the most fleshed out character”
“I like Evans. A man struggling to understand his role in a world he’s been forced to live in”
“Evans and Brooke. Offered the most background”
“Evans, he is trying to do a difficult job and deal with supernatural abilities coming out in him”
“Zac Evans, the demon child intrigued me, the powers too”
“Supporting cast was flavourful from the snooty doctor to the chief with the stick up his ass”
“Angry boss and mother. Boss because although situation was serious his violence added a semi-humorous element. Mother because the mother/son relationship is amusing. Also creates drama and depth”
“I liked the main character and the scene with his mother. I liked the police chief as he felt a bit more realistic with his dialogue”
“Mother (Lucifer) was magnetic. The girl at the start (who dies) is gorgeous!”
“The main guy, Evans and the mother, Lucifer”
“I liked all the characters”
“The love interest as well as the witch were strongest, underplayed evil”
Do you think the rest of the show must be made? Why?
“I think it has great potential”
“I think you’re certainly on the right track. Keep going for sure. Hope you get studio backing, funding and pro assistance”
“Yes, because I think compared to the shit that gets made it deserves a chance”
“With long story arcs (Babylon 5) then yes!”
“Yes please! Would love to see how it progresses”
“Yes, I would like to see more of Zac’s background and history”
“Yes it’s interesting and Australia needs a good TV series in this niche”
“It would be good to see more original Australian productions”
“Yes I would like to see more of the character development and interactions as the story and back stories evolve”
“Yes. It is something fresh, interesting. There is a great area for expansion”
“Yes. From what I have seen the characters seem believable and the setting is fantastic. I’m in love already and want more, more, more …. Well done, I enjoyed it very much!”
“Yes. Support Australian made!”
“Yes! Definitely – it has so much potential. I love that it is Australian and Sci-Fi/Supernatural”
“Yes!!”
“Yes! A lot of promise and Aussie TV needs something like this. NO MORE NEIGHBOURS OR HOME AND AWAY!!”
“Yes because Australia can’t keep making the same old shit”
“Yes, it could get very interesting and I would like to know more”
