Angelena first appeared on television in her native country, Australia, when she was just four years old (with her twin brother) on the Pre-School program Romper Room. She remembers the day vividly and was captivated by being "on set" with the beautiful TV Host, Ms Helena, the lights and cameras! Shortly thereafter, she began ballet/jazz and tap, piano, drama, singing and presenting lessons that continued into her early twenties, when her international career as a Supermodel took off. Working in every market from Australia, Asia, Europe to North America, her worldwide appeal was apparent as she graced numerous magazine covers, billboards, newspapers, press interviews, television shows and films. Eight years ago her fiancé suddenly and unexpectedly passed away, while they were living in Sydney and writing her debut pop/rock album. Then in 2012, Angelena was the victim of a violent crime in her homeland, a week after arriving home from living in North America for 2 years.. She endured kidnap, gang rape and attempted murder, and as a consequence, severe Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) . With the support of the Detectives at the Australian Sexual Crime Unit and the healthcare system she began her road to recovery. Suffering from depression and suicidal she retired from modelling and took time out. In early 2013 Angelena began to focus her attention on helping others who were suffering also. In 2013 she was named the Ambassador for World Mental Health Day and found the courage to go public with her story. She then began guest speaking at high schools for suicide prevention initiatives such as the R U Ok? Day and the Zip It Campaign. She then joined alliances with Amnesty International Australia and was their special guest at the NAB Women's Leadership Awards, along with Australian celebrity Big Brother Host Gretel Killeen. She also attended the official worldwide launch of Amnesty Initernational's 'Stop Torture' Campaign and the UN Women's documentary film premiere for 'I Am A Girl" (Directed by Rebecca Barry).. During the nightmare of PTSD she vowed that she would speak out against violence towards women when she had healed herself and was strong again. She moved back to Toronto in August 2014 and then had the vision for The Angelena Bonet Show - The Heart of the Matter...
Only from the depths of her despair and darkest days has she truly found her voice and the courage to speak out and discuss issues generally shunned and swept under the carpet by society. These traumatic experiences have given Angelena her life purpose and is committed to helping others rise above their own pain and adversity. She is committed to sending a powerful message of self love and healing through her Talk Show, documentary films, music and Charities she is affiliated with. From her life experiences and speaking with people from all walks of life, it is crystal clear to her that love and forgiveness really are key and does conquer all.
