After successful Adelaide Fringe seasons in 2014 & 2015 with “Icosa44” and “Psi-Plantae”, Sacred Resonance and collaborators are back with a new interface of technology and art; Agartha – a subterranean installation.

THE PROJECT:
Sacred Resonance, in collaboration with Arts of Consciousness and Little Scale, presents an interactive cymatics and visionary art installation in the historic underground Adina Treasury tunnels adjacent to Victoria Square.
Agartha is inspired by the ancient legends of secret worlds and mystical cities within the subterranean grottos and caves of the earth. They are said to be places of mystical experience and insight from the realms of the Supernatural. Contemporary research has given rise to increased interest in the science of archaeoacoustics looking at how these environments have unique sound echo patterns that may help enhance certain states of meditational experience.
The installation explores the interrelationships between sound and matter through the art of cymatics. Pioneered by Swiss medical doctor and natural scientist Hans Jenny (1904-1972), cymatics, the study of wave phenomena, is a science that provides a process of visualising sound and vibrations and their affect on material reality. Through cymatics we can literally see the mandalic patterns of sound vibrations reflected in the geometries of nature and art throughout history.
Walking through the tunnels one will enter different artistic expressions exploring sacred space. Participants will experience the hidden geometries in sound that reflect natural harmonic resonances of nature through a touch-sensitive water sculpture that allows the viewer to instantly effect what sounds shape the cymatic patterns.
An interactive augmented reality will transport viewers to explore resonant subterranean spaces beyond the confines of the Adina Treasury tunnels. Then through a visionary art installation one is invited to journey deep into inner consciousness. Reflective imagery will explore the interconnection of how the vibrations of creation are reflected in sacred symbols and mythological aspects of rock art and petroglyphs from across the world.

In October 2015 Sacred Resonance was awarded one of eight $5000 Fringe Cultural Grants to help bring the show to life. Now the team just need another $1888 through crowd funding to complete this inspiring underground installation.
Adelaide Fringe Cultural Fund Chairman, Sam Haren, says Agartha is the type of “daring and risky project ... that lies at the heart of the Adelaide Fringe”.
Opening weekend performances will include special guest artists featuring ancient African instruments, gongs and an electronic symphony generated live by Little Scale and Sacred Resonance. Live audio-reactive synthesis will manipulate the cymatic projections throughout the show.
Another 4 public ticketed live performances will be an intimate and unique experience limited to only 40 viewers per session over 2 days. So please go to Fringe Tix to purchase your tickets asap! An additional VIP performance will be held exclusively for sponsors, press and guests to have their own private performance and mingle with the artists.
