2021 Calendar - Endangered Animals
22nd August Update: Due to Covid, Aus Post are experiencing delays so some orders may not arrive until October - scroll to the bottom for more details, or get in touch with me if this will be an issue for you!
To pre-order, look under the 'rewards' section.
Hello! I'm Ingrid, an artist and illustrator based in Brisbane, and I'm launching pre-orders for my 2021 Endangered Animals wall calendar.
My illustration practice primarily features Australian flora and fauna. Last year I created a calendar that featured plants native to SE QLD (if you supported that project, then thank you and welcome back!). This time, the calendar features 12 Australian endangered and threatened animals, painted in watercolour. One dollar of each calendar sale will be donated to WIRES (Wildlife Information Rescue and Education Service).
About the Project:
I've been working on the paintings for this calendar since the beginning of the year. Every second Sunday, I've been uploading a process video in a series titled 'Species Speed-paint Sundays' to share what I've learnt about each endangered animal:
You can find all these videos on my Instagram (IGTV) or Youtube. I love to see how art can be an avenue for people to become engaged with new concepts, ideas and issues. My hope is that these paintings will encourage viewers to learn a little more about some of the amazing wildlife we have in Australia, and why it's so important to protect.
In this calendar, each month features an endangered animal surrounded by the plants that make up its habitat or food source. I really enjoyed reading about each animal and, while I'm no wildlife scientist, I feel like I already have a greater appreciation for the importance biodiversity seems to play in keeping all species alive and thriving!
Digital Mock Up
The animals included are:
- Gouldian Finch
- Mountain Pygmy Possum
- Orange-bellied Parrot

For pre-orders, the calendar costs $25 each, you can find the different options in the rewards section to the right.
Pre-order now: You'll be the first to receive the calendar at a sneaky lil discount (after pre-orders the RRP is $27) and receive discounted or free shipping depending on where you are and what reward you pick! There are also some great gift packs that will only be available here.
When your calendar reaches the end of its life, please keep the paintings as art prints - they'd look great in a frame (just think, that's 12 birthday presents sorted for 2022!). Or alternatively recycle the paper, or shred and compost it.
The details:
- Printed on 300gsm recycled paper in Australia
- A4 in size and will be spiral bound with hanging holes
- All the main Australian public holidays listed within the wall calendar
- I will make sure your orders are posted in recyclable materials.

Budget Overview
The main cost associated with this project is printing - I prefer to print in relatively small batches, so that I order just the right number of calendars, and nothing is wasted.
The first batch of printing is going to cost me around:
- $1, 500
I'm aiming to reach $1,500 worth of preorders to help offset this upfront cost and to help spread the word!
If I reach my first goal, my stretch goal would be $3000. With this I could look into:
- Creating a budget for promoting the calendar on social media and Etsy.
- Helping to cover some ongoing costs used to create the calendar such as my Adobe programs subscription, art materials and other studio costs.
- Help to pay for the cost of the second printing batch.
Timeline
- 20-25th of August: I'll receive the printed proof - I'll post a picture of that once it arrives!
- 1-7th of September: The first batch of calendars should arrive (Fingers crossed nothing goes wrong with covid!)
- 10-15th of September: I'll be posting out your orders
- 15-30th of September: Your orders should arrive by mid to end of September if you live in Australia.
PLEASE NOTE: due to coronavirus Australia Post is experiencing delays both domestically and internationally. Domestic orders should arrive by the end of September, overseas orders may take longer (up to a month), arriving in October. To see how your order may be affected here:

Update - 22nd August - Current Covid shipping estimates:
Hello lovely pledgers! I just wanted to give you an update on the current shipping times according to Aus Post.
Due to covid, shipping times are delayed and constantly changing depending on lock downs and case numbers - this may mean your calendars will arrive a bit later than I had hoped - some may not arrive until October in Aus. If this will be a problem, please get in contact with me now and we can work out what might be the best course of action.
My current plan is the ship out the pre-orders before the 15th of September. However, I have to keep in mind that there's a chance the calendars will be delayed in getting to me due to covid, so I ask for your understanding here and thank you in advance.
In the meantime the current estimated shippings dates when posting from Brisbane are (according to Aus Post):
Bris - NSW: 3-8 business days approx.
Bris - QLD: 2-7 business days approx.
Bris - SA: 3-14 business days approx.
