Looking back at my achievements, particularly over most recent 13 years in this 'serious-hobby', with more than 200 bands, 500+ gigs, portraits, weddings etc.   For the best part of this journey, It's been years of free service, doing it just for the love of the art, and for the great people I got to meet and work with along the way.    Perhaps at the 10 year mark (around 2013) that I began to get the real recognition from the public, peers, and mainly the music industry that I worked mostly with.

Over the past two years, after having lost my cafe business of 7 years, and the challenge of trying regular jobs, I realised that, to continue to build/maintain this 'side' business,  I'm going to need some serious cash injection, to upgrade some gear, car, and maintain a reasonable standard of living.

This is NOT a pledge for your donation. I'm NOT asking for charity, and definately NOT seeking cash handouts.   I'm asking for your support to help spread the words.  I'm offering my services, some at ridiculously crazy stupid price, and in the hope of using this platform to fast-track sales & bookings, to raise enough fund to make a few of my 'Field of Dreams' come true.

It really is an 18 year long journey thus far.   Graduating in 1998 from Photography Studies College, and filling those early years with weddings, commercial, fashion, portraits of all kind, even took photos of pigeons for a racing club.    Around 2002, my love of the another craft - music, naturally forged this marriage, and CHOWIE PHOTOGRAPHY was officially born.


'Get a proper job !' seems to be the norm for someone wanting to get into ANY fields in art, so with 2 kids in tow, it's only natural that the most I can do is a part-time, serious 'hobby'.  Nonetheless, I busted my ass over the years, treating it seriously, and naturally gave away loads for free, with a goal of building a decent reputation and following.

CHOWIE facebook was launched in 2009, moving away from using personal facebook profile, to give my brand a little more 'legitimacy'.

Over those initial years, I also inherited the photographer role for Melbourne's (and possibly Australia's) best 'local' band Electric Mary.



Leveraging this and other small success, interest grew from interstate and even small international bands, from Smokin' Mirrors in Central Coast, numerous Sydney bands, Squeaker ,  Ice On Mercury in Adelaide, Brisbane's Mallory Vanetti , all the way to Perth's Hailmary, and as far away as The Bellrays from L.A. and Mother's Cake from Austria, just to name a few.



Slowly but surely, it spreads outside of the music scene, picking up work for likes of Silvers Circus, and various other performing artists, including dance studios.






Most recently, I began to receive invitation from other media agencies, radio such as Triple M to shoot international artists , lke Muse, Bon jovi, Kid Rock. Def Leppard, and also began receiving media call for stage productions & musicals such as GREASE, The King & I.





In between all the bands that I have enjoyed the privilege & honour to shoot, I had to branch out to different fields of photography. One to continue to develop my craft, expand my creativity, and two, maybe earn a buck.  So back to some old area I've done before, except with a twist.

CHOWIE ROCKUMENTARY shaped up to become my signature style. I began 'rockumenting' everything from bands' backstage, rehearsal, studio recording, film clip production, and various other projects, that saw my journalistic style of photography seeping beyond music and into weddings, portraits, fashions.

2015 also saw the birth of the officlal CHOWIE PHOTOGRAPHY website, to better position the brand on the world stage.









Gaining popularity and recognition, amongst music industry peers, from sound engineers, managers, bookers, lighting, and even from industry vetrans like Suze DeMarchi of BABY ANIMALS, Super Jesus, and to finally making the front cover of Australia's music icon ICEHOUSE's first ever live album, and being recognised by the man Iva Davies himself, reinforces my belief in myself, my worthiness and my ability to make a difference and maybe even succeed in my craft.





So far so good.... except over the decade, it was barely enough to pay for the 'hobby', let alone making it a full time job. So it remains just that... a dream.

Suddenly becoming jobless shakes your world to the core. It forces you to reflect, and decide, the time has come for me to take this over the line, and really make it MY LIFE. This is NOT a plea for donation.  I'm asking for your support to accelerate my bookings for gigs, prints, tshirts, ticket sales.    Gigs/ Jobs you may have already intended to commission someone like me to do, or you might know someone who could benefit from the service from me, or have thought how to leverage my exposure in the music scene perhaps; or have planned a wedding, or are pregnant, have a baby or two due soon, maybe even a loving pet you want to have amazing photos to treasure long after they're gone.

This is my second attempt at crowd funding.  The first time back in 2014, crowd funding was still a new concept to many.  I personally had a massive learning curve, and the offerings and timeframe may habe been in adequate in fulfilling the funding goal.

The challenge this time around may be similar, so like all others, this is a big leap of faith.   Here goes nothing.
