Also, I'd love you to come along to my launch events: http://savingstbrigids.com.au/pages/events (And if you can draw an audience, I'm more than willing to come and speak about my book in your community!)

Saving St Brigid's is a story about St Brigid’s church and hall, the cornerstone a rural community for 130 years.

It was put up for sale by the Catholic Church and became the heart of a struggle that went all the way to Rome.

St Brigid’s sits in the heartland of Irish Australia. It was built and paid for by our ancestors – children of the Irish famine, as a legacy to their children.

It was to uphold their legacy that I decided to stand up alongside my community and fight to protect it. I had to share this story, and so I wrote a book about it, called "Saving St Brigid's".

When our story aired on the 7:30 Report it lit a fire in the heads of people across the nation and garnered some high profile support, from human rights lawyer, Frank Brennan and Indigenous elders, Archie Roach and the late Ruby Hunter.

“Irish heritage and Australian folk music mix poignantly with Mary Black, Shane Howard, Marcia Howard, Archie Roach and the late Ruby Hunter rendering in song the parallels between indigenous dispossession and the alienation of the faithful from institutional religion" Fr Frank Brennan S.J

In June, it will be 100 years since my great grandfather told the congregation at the opening of St Brigid's that they wanted to leave a legacy for their children. It’s imperative that this story finds its audience before next June.

By supporting me, you'll be supporting a small rural community. Part proceeds of the profits of my book will go directly to The Friends of St Brigid's Association Inc, to pay off their $200,000 community mortgage – to keep our buildings in community hands.

This is my first ever book. I need you to help me spread the word. After you've read my book, I would love it if you could write a review on my website and like my page on Facebook.

Thanks. My community and I really appreciate your support,

Regina
