Well Done Those Men
IS GOING TO BE MADE INTO A MOVIE
The wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have highlighted the problem of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. You can help further raise awareness of this devastating illness by supporting our movie.
With a potential audience of over 300 million, WELL DONE THOSE MEN is going to be produced as a feature length motion picture. The film will be based on a story by the recognized Australian writer and Vietnam veteran, Barry Heard. It has been adapted into a feature film script by a team of Australian film professionals including scriptwriter Jack Brislee (Long Tan) and director, Ian Watson (Secret Life of Us, Sea Change, Wildside, Underbelly).

...with thanks to our many supporters, Phillip Adams, Tanya Plibersek, RSL Australia, Graham Edwards, Stephen Smith, Paul Ham, Geoff Gallop and of course, Barry Heard.
Well done those great Australians!

Barry Heard was a country boy. . “My life was good. It was simple. I had been reared in a community that fostered co-operation, the nurturing of young people and responsibility to others as a priority.”
But Vietnam changed all that...

Barry witnessed the horror of war.

And returned home... It was not a hero's welcome.

Thirty years later, the symptoms of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder that Barry had tried to hide, manifested themselves dramatically. Barry was admitted to Heidelberg Psychiatric Hospital.

Barry’s recovery was slow and painful. But with the support of his wife he pulled through. He wrote about his experiences.

The book quickly became a best seller.
“'Well Done, Those Men' is a human, moving, and brutally honest account of one man’s emotionally racked journey from naïve country boy to jungle soldier, psychologically scarred veteran, and ultimately triumphant victor over the demons within.” Greg Thom, The Herald Sun
Barry’s book has had a tremendous impact upon the veterans’ community and their families. The filmmakers believe this project will extend Barry’s great work, and will reach out to Vietnam veterans and the veterans and families of more recent wars.
