Chapel of Change is an independent film and theatre company based in Melbourne. The companies first feature Mother Mary Sex & Death had its world premier at the Vladivostok International Film Festival. The film became the talking point of the festival. The films director, Rainsford conducted a Q & A that went for hours. The film triggered a deeper need in people to share their own stories for the loss of their loved ones, along with the challenging contexts within the film of sex and death as 'femme inspiratrice.'

Rainsford returned feeling that the company needs to maintain it's independence and control over the films distribution, meaning of course we must also find ways of raising some of the fundamental costs of distribution. - and here - the cost of submitting the film for censorship classification marks its outward genesis.

Once the film is classified we will be free to publicly screen the film; whilst maintaining a promotional identity for the film that we feel best maintains its authenticity, and its intimacy as a personal work of film art. This is important to us, as of course is all our work as creators.

So essentially: by supporting this fund raising activity, not only will you receive the reward of a limited release DVD copy of the film plus extras, you will be helping to make it possible for others around Australia to experience this film.

These project funds are so specific, ie censorship classification costs, that once raised the film will simply be given to the board for classification.
