My name is Adam Lobo and I met Matt Bray (Matsun) at SpinFest, object manipulation festival just outside Melbourne Australia, a few years ago. I had been practicing dragonstaff for sometime by then and was totally in love with the prop. Matsun had brought some new toys to the table though... he had molded out of polyurethane the Buugeng style dragon heads.

His design was amazing! I immediately asked him if I could get one off him at sometime. A few months later I received my very first set. They were Red and Yellow and had sparkles in them. I played with that set for almost 2 years. It went into the desert, the water, through countless children... and still refused to die. I finally gave them away to the amazingly talented Aileen at Camp Fire '13 in Minnesota.
The units are almost indestructible. It would take allot of wear and tear to get them to crumble. They were safe to play with, I didn't have to worry about letting kids play with my favorite prop. I knew both the units and the kids would go unharmed.
After realizing how many people wanted a set of these, I decided to ask Matsun if he would support a Crowdfunding project to get a mold made for mass productino of the units. Matsun excitedly said YES!

Since then, I have been getting quotes from injection mold makers. I have been getting quotes for what seems like a year now. Finally, after finding the right manufacture at the right price, it was time to take the next step to making these Spiral Dragons a reality.
We have spoken with the mold maker and decided to go forward with a different design. The new design features the weight and the spokes/ spirals being one complete piece. This makes it easier to attach to your staff.
We have also decided to add in some push through pins that will house popular LED light sticks. The light sticks will pop through the two pins that will hold the light unit in place, allowing your practice staff to become a flurry of patterns and light when night falls. We are super excited to see this finished!
We have calculated the project to break even at the 22k mark. This will provide enough funds to pay for the creation of the mold, do a run of 250 pairs of heads and ship them out to everyone for their rewards.

The minimum target for the project is $15000. This will provide enough for the mold and a factory run of the amount of rewards chosen.
When it comes to the colors we are getting made we will contact everyone who pledges at the completion of the project to get a gauge on color preferences and numbers, colors are monotone and will be run on the most wanted colors people respond with. We can then tailor the factory run to cater to those needs.
I am super excited to see this happen! It's about time that a safe, reliable, transportable and beautifully designed dragon option was on the market.
Thank you all for your presence in this wonderful community and for your support of the Spiral Dragon.
Adam
There is only one challenge, obtaining support for the project. This can be achieved and is within our reach.
