Dear Friends,

As a skater owned and run roller derby league the Convict City Rollers are living the dream of playing a full contact female sport with a great sense of community, fun and (derby) love in Hobart, Tasmania.

We formed in 2009 with a handful of passionate ladies. In 2010 the first national tournament was held in Adelaide - The Great Southern Slam (TGSS) - and we had 10 skaters ready to roll in their first ever bout experience and watched the best in the nation. Hence we now can only refer to this wonderful city as 'rAdelaide'.

The dream began.... we started to build our League with a vision to take on the tournament competition as a League Team... we hosted the first Tassie wide bootcamp, the first Interleague bout between Tassie teams and hosted the first mainland league in 2010... and then won the Tasmanian Championship in 2011.

Then we got the exciting news that this year Adelaide Roller Derby are bringing us an even bigger TGSS event with opportunities for new skaters, young leagues and a tournament for the best in Australia and NZ. Just 18 leagues out of 80 nationwide will play off for the title.

Convict City has been invited as the 18th league to join the tournament!! 

This means we have the opportunity to take a full team to rAdelaide!! 

With a ranking of 18 out of 18 teams the Convicts are the underdogs and ready to fight hard to represent Tasmania as the only Tassie league in the tournament competition.

We have been fundraising hard at a local level, however need a further $3,000 to ensure we can support a full team to get rAdelaide for the three day event.

The first TGSS event gave us the confidence to host the first interleague bouts in Tasmania in 2010 and continue to form home teams and win the Tasmanian Championship in 2011. With this year's TGSS the sky's the limit for our League and our Team - strong, empowered women who love life, love roller derby and are really grateful to all in the derby community who support our dreams.
