THE STORY
KITE is a coming of age story about an only child who is faced with her grandfather’s death, leaving her to look after her mother, who has become catatonic with grief.
Young Ingrid is running the household and parenting her mother as much as she possibly can, yet her opportunity to say goodbye to her grandfather is denied, much to her protest.
Determined, Ingrid finds her own way of understanding, and saying goodbye to her grandfather.
MY STORY
I think this story is symbolic that adults commonly under-estimate what children are capable of, and what they are able to understand. It’s a story I have heard all too often from adults looking back on their childhood. Many resent not being allowed to attend a family member’s funeral, due to the traditional mindset that children are too young to be exposed to and deal with such misery at an early age.
YOUR SUPPORT
I have been lucky enough to receive some support through Metro Screen’s First Break Funding and I plan to use this towards the hire of equipment such as a wiz bang camera and lights, locations and especially catering for our amazing cast and crew who will be volunteering their time.
With your generous support via Pozible you will be helping us to complete the film in the post-production stages; editing, grading, composition of the film score and soundscape, as well as the marketing and distribution of the film.
I want to share my story, and I would love for you to help me to do this. I would be so grateful for any kind of donation for the benefit of our film.
