Thank you to all of our supporters so far - thanks to you we have made our $20k goal for Design Emergency!
If you haven't supported yet, it's not too late as there is still a day to go and the more we raise the further we can take the program, allowing more children to experience and benefit from it.
Object believes in the power of design to effect positive change. We recognise there is an opportunity to teach children creativity and design thinking skills so they will be able to deal with the problems of the future.
Our outreach education program, Design Emergency, can empower children to change their world for the better. But we need your help to do it!

Design Emergency strives to create a generation of design thinkers and expert problem solvers. It takes designers into schools, providing students and teachers with a first hand understanding of what design is and how it relates to everything that we do. It provides the skills to create their own individual ways of living and working.
The program encourages students to identify issues and problems in their school or local community and through a design thinking process helps them gain insights about those issues. This enables students to use innovation to develop a range of possible solutions and come up with real outcomes that can create positive change within their community. By participating in Design Emergency, school students are encouraged to collaborate, experiment, take risks and not fear failure.
Importantly, Design Emergency is a program that relates to the entire school curriculum, assisting with learning outcomes in literacy, numeracy, science, technology, environment, society and culture, and arts.
Our progress so far...
Object has spent the past 12 months piloting variations of Design Emergency across schools in New South Wales. The response to the pilots from participating schools and teachers validated a strong need for a program like Design Emergency.
The pilots have improved the delivery of the program but it’s still not perfect – and this is where you can help realise our dream!
All feedback highlighted for the program to be truly successful it needs to be accessible for students, teachers and designers no matter where they are. To do this we need to take Design Emergency digital! Having Design Emergency digitally accessible means that it is a resource that grows and develops for ongoing use. It also encourages a more interactive learning experience.
The Next Steps...
Object needs a minimum of $20,000 to develop our first go at a digital platform for Design Emergency that will guide and grow the future of the program. It will allow us to research different methods for online delivery including rich digital content, apps and online modules for teacher training. It will also provide a much-needed place for teachers to provide feedback and interaction with Object, and between other teachers and schools. Being available online, Design Emergency will be accessible to all students no matter where they live.
The more funds we raise the further we can take Design Emergency, enabling more children to experience and benefit from it as soon as possible.
“The benefits of this program are enormous. Design Emergency allows students to take complex problems and create solutions where only problems exited before. I would dearly love to see this program rolled out. This is something that is too powerful and too revolutionary for our whole county to stay in a little part of NSW.”
-Michael Alvisse Company Director Schamberg + Alvisse & Design Emergency Champion
